Vlady did confirm on the forums awhile back that age does have a direct effect on training independent of CL, even though it seems unnecessary, at least to me.
Well... for what it's worth, I started my level 13 Regen construction today. Meant to start it on wednesday (whoops), but I was wrapped up with holiday stuff/travel.
So I now have the following under construction:
- Lvl 15 Training Facility
- Lvl 13 Regen
- Lvl 14 HR Dept
- Lvl 15 Sports Academy
Not bad imo. I imagine within the next season or two I'll finish construction on the "top four" facilities.
Mostly, I'm just trying to make my team into as good training ground for young U.S. players as I can. That begins with the TF and SA (which will both be maxed out within the next 60-100 days).
I pulled a really good prospect the other day: Robert Mercado . He's a balanced RB with 82 AQ and 6/6 CL. I'm gonna try to get him in games pretty much immediately so that his exp dwarfs most of his youth national team competition by the time he's 18-19 years old. Hopefully I'll be able to get another good prospect after next week's draft.
Keep an eye out on the market over the next few weeks. I'll likely be listing several 800-900 OR guys as I open up playing time for more and more young players.
I'll note their scouted qualities when I list them for sale, but the list is anticipated to at least include:
Franklin Calkins (Defensive Back)
Sheppard Lawrence (Offensive Back)
Ryan Stapleton (Goalie)

but isnt it why the ratio of the CL drops?
if "age" had no impact then a 6/6 for example would always be 100% training and a 5/6 90% or whatever it is.
so i always understood the age to affect the drop of percentage and the CL has a range so when the ratio drops to a different CL ratio then it drops the CL
with that said, that is the reason why for understanding TF/Regen influence it is best to do on 6/6 where the most it drops is 10% even at different "ages"

Draft looks like it's a little better this time around. I've found one A and a handful of B's.
Jesus... Ted Keenan had a freaking monster game today.
- 10 goals on 11 shots
- 11 assists
- 1 steal
- 3 blocked shots

Wow, so apparently my scouts think Russ Eldridge with qualities of FiP 74, Pas 64, Tec 71, Spe 71, Agr 69 is a 4 star wing. If that kind of garbage player is worth 4 stars, I guess there's no point to pulling anything less than 4.5 stars anymore?!?
woowwww...
yeah... honestly, I used to always pull 3.5 stars or more. but lately, even with max scouting efficiency and a level 14 HR dept. I've found them pretty lacking.
I think 4 stars is the bare minimum anymore. Which is something that strikes me as odd.
I feel as though the star ratings should correspond as follows:
3 stars - low 70s
3.5 - mid 70s
4 - high 70s
4.5 - low 80s
5 - mid-high 80s
Obviously with scouting prowess, there'd be some variance in the actual results... but there's no reason for a team with halfway decent scouting to see a guy with an AQ of 66 (what I see him as unscouted) predicted as a 4 star prospect.

His actual AQ is 64 - even with zero scouting that guy should have never shown up as a 4 star at any position. The low OR gave me pause when I pulled him, but I've never seen a 4 star in any sport not be at least decent, so I figured it was a fluke.
I guess I need to update my internal "accept/reject player" algorithm to:
3.5 stars only if OR is very high
4 star only if OR is high
4.5 and 5 star always.

Pulled John Field yesterday.
508 OR - 85 AvQ
96 Goa / 96 FiP / 86 Sho / 94 Blk / 87 Pas / 85 Tec / 77 Spe / 58 Agr
Glad to see that level 15 SA paying off. He's grown up as a Def. Back (85 eQ), but he'll be an absolute STUD goalie (90 eQ)... so I've decided to throw away the extra points in FiP and train him as a goalie instead. His Goa skill is 50 points behind his FiP (47 vs. 97), but with my level 15 Training Facility, he should be rocking and rolling by the time he's 17-18.
Perfect timing in my opinion (as that will be right when Lloyd Russ will be making his free agent demands. Pretty happy to have the next superstar in the pipeline.

Granted... I'm in training camp right now, but John Field and Jindřich Bárta were ranked 2nd and 5th in the WORLD in practice gains yesterday. They totaled a 9.06 OR gain from practice in a single day.
It's always exciting to see my elite prospects training in the upper echelon of the world competition.

I just picked up 3 U.S. NT players from the Covington Rowdies for relatively reasonable prices last night. My offensive pivot and one of my offensive backs have been substantially upgraded. The 17 year old offensive wing will probably start for my team once he passes Johnson in a few seasons, though his CL is worrisome.
Yeah, I saw that you picked those guys up. Good job. I always like to see American guys staying in the u.s. Something very nationalistic about it all.
Big swing in the respective strength of our teams this week though. You just picked up three very good players (at least 2 of which are good enough to start), whereas I just sold (or committed to sell) 3 of my top 10 players: my offensive pivot, offensive left wing, and best backup goalie (who I was surprised to see only go for $330,750).
I've been playing more young guys recently (much of this season actually), and have been focusing on trying to get my team AvQ up and average age down. So far so good.
I always find it fascinating to see the different management strategies that people focus on.

Wowwww. Krzysztof Piątek is an absolute steal for $60,000. Even though he's 5/6 CL, getting a 15 year old with (unscouted) 80+ AvQ and over 500 OR for that cheap is a great deal.
