I came across the following guide on how to set up your tactics against what you anticipate your next opponent’s tactics might be.

STYLE OF PLAY:
Normal x Defensive
Defensive x Offensive
Offensive x Active Forechecking
Active Forechecking x Counterattacks
Counterattacks x Breaking Up of Play
Breaking Up of Play x Normal

POWER PLAYS:
Shooting From the Point x Passive Box
Umbrella x Active Box
Overload x Diamond

PENALTY KILLING:
Diamond x Umbrella
Passive Box x Overload
Active Box x Shooting From the Point

Supposedly, if you pair your tactics like this and manage to get lucky to guess your opponent’s tactics, it should drastically increase your chances of performing well against your opponent.
