Hi everyone.
I came across the following guide on how to set up your tactics against what you anticipate your next opponent’s tactics might be.
STYLE OF PLAY:
Normal x Defensive
Defensive x Offensive
Offensive x Active Forechecking
Active Forechecking x Counterattacks
Counterattacks x Breaking Up of Play
Breaking Up of Play x Normal
POWER PLAYS:
Shooting From the Point x Passive Box
Umbrella x Active Box
Overload x Diamond
PENALTY KILLING:
Diamond x Umbrella
Passive Box x Overload
Active Box x Shooting From the Point
Supposedly, if you pair your tactics like this and manage to get lucky to guess your opponent’s tactics, it should drastically increase your chances of performing well against your opponent.
I hope this helps!

There is a very interesting article in the PP Magazine that covers this subject.
A couple of good articles to read, can be found in the PP Magazine.
Click the red square "PPM" found to the left of your team square(s).
Then "PP Magazine"
Then "information" (found on the right side)
The one covering this specific topic is titled:
"Revisit our classics (part 3)"
Another good article is called "Chemistry and experience…the X factors".
Both will give you some interesting perspectives on the game.
One way to anticipate your opponents tactics is to go to their team site and click "analysis" to see what tactics are their favorites.
