Tournament starts tomorrow! For those that don't know this is for teams that are in division III or lower or have just recently been promoted to division II. Here are the groups, whith team strength in brackets:
1:
Herisau Grizzlies (33)
etown oilers (36)
Carnivorous Cattle (36)
Montreal Canadien (50)
2:
Elmira Horse And Buggies (45)
Fedidit Rangers (50)
Milleteers (44)
Ottawa Magicians (39)
3:
Brampton Bandits (31)
puredangles (39)
tomatos (50)
Steamers (50)
4:
Bow Valley Buccaneers (47)
bobbys angels (33)
The Raging Pigs (40)
Lovely Midgets (47)
Looks like we play each team in our group twice then the top 2 from each advance to the playoffs. These are my predictions:
Group 1: Montreal Canadien walk away with this one with the one foreign team Herisau Grizzlies giving them trouble and getting second
Group 2: Again going with a III.2 team to win this group, Fedidit has this one, with Milleteers advancing as well, even though it will be close with Elmira
Group 3: Steamers dominates again after feeling the heat up in II.1, tomatos gets second
Group 4: I want to say my team will win this group, the Bucs, but I have been terrible in tournaments, so I say the Lovely Midgets wins this group, and either The Raging Pigs or the Bucs will come second.

Steamers are in rebuilding mode, but are a 53 star team with 3 when needed, I am looking to win it all
Raging Pigs win 4-1 vs bobbys angels despite taking 6 penalties, the most in a single game this season.
Well lost today to the Lovely Midgets 4-2, but he played on high to my low, just have to beat him the second time around now.
Ottawa Magicians manage a tie on the road. Played on high to offset 14 players in training camp.
We should put a rule to play on low all games of this tournament!
That would leave almost no chance to the games..... How can a lower star team have a good chance to beat a higher seeded team.
I agree, at least for the group stages you should play on normal at the most, no one wants to go wasting energy on a tournament game, I'm not going to be playing on high anytime soon that's for sure.
I think it is unethical to have an agreement to play on low. It largely favors better teams and is a tactic no different than playing normal vs defensive. The cost in energy is not that expensive. Low is .02, normal .08 and high .4. Not nearly as costly as playing high in a competitive game. If I have half my starters at camp again I will probably do it again.
I disagree. Agreeing to play on low takes importance out of the equation. This way the real better team on the day wins not the team that is willing to sacrifice the most in the end.
But should the better team just win? Or the team that is willing to give up more? I would suggest the team willing to give up more, even though I am one of the higer star teams and it would help me if everyone played on low.
I, for one, will not agree to play on low. The Raging Pigs will play with whatever intensity I feel is appropriate in the circumstances. Just try to stop me.
