Ok,obviously I am late to the party on this one. I tried looking through the old posts with no answer that made me understand the irritating costs of things. For this rant, I will focus on my recent completion of a level 13 maintenance center. After completion of the center, my costs for maintenance went down $72,247 per day. I have 94% staff and I will not even include their salaries to keep it simple. I was hoping for a much higher drop in costs when I built the center. So next I looked at building a level 14 maintenance center. First, I would have to pony up the approx. $93,000,000 for the building. After completion, it would cost me $113,000 per day for upkeep. Now looking at my reduction in costs from the last upgrade, $72,247......how is it even remotely sane to build this to a level 15, with upkeep costs per day and the cost of my maintenance staff salaries per day, not even mentioning the over $200,000,000 to upgrade the facility to level 15 and pay for 100% staff salaries? I always trusted that a higher facility with top notch staff would be a cost saver in the long run. By all accounts that I can figure is I am getting raped by the maintenance center.....even if my repairs expand.
What am I missing? All the top teams have them, but by my observation it is not worth it. I'm sure this has been discussed before.....can somebody set me straight so I caN go on mindlessly believing I should keep investing in this center? Sorry if I have missed something simple or has been hashed out before. Am I the one missing something or do the numbers not lie.....and I should stop with upgrading this center. Any thoughts would be welcome. HH

Your daily maintenance cost from MC is not 113,000. It has decreased due to your MC lowering the costs. So your total costs are now 72k lower including the higher MC costs the higher MC gives you. It saves you money but eventually it'll take few seasons until it has paid the 57M investment. High rated custodians are not profitable even if you have all facilities maxed out. You'll save a lot money if you change to something that provides 50-60% efficiency.
To get to the 72,247, I subtracted my old daily maintenance cost from my new on. The difference does not pay for the mc's daily charge. The staff salaries would be in addition to thst. How do I figure what it is saving me......as you implied?
You can see total savings by summing up the maintenance costs written in guide and then comparing them to real costs.
Here are the raw numbers.
Facilities main. LOL 12 was 947,500 per day.
Facilities main. LOL 13 is 931,148.
Arena main. LOL 12 was 1230456.
Arena main. LOL 13 is 1174561.
94 % custodians = 278453 per day.
Just looking at the reduction in costs from level 12 to 13.....I can't see how it is even remotely worth it. Is there some hidden reduction I am missing? Otherwise it would take years to even try and pay off all the costs.

56,550,000/72,247 = 783days = 7 seasons
It's definitely not the most profitable investment but it's still profitable...

I wouldn't count staff salaries for that calculation. That's a seperate one. Just remove the staff from their positions (not firing, just unemploy them). Then look at the numbers of your stadium/arena and facilities and compare them with the numbers when they are working in the department. If that difference is bigger than the salary, you are at least making profit with the staff. The 50-60% staff efficiency sounds about right though. More is usually not really worthwhile.
Headhog, talk to canucks357. There was an excel file going around that would calculate optimal staff levels based on your facilities.
there is also one thing you are not accounting for. The likelihood of the unexpected repairs needed due to excessive wear and tear or vandalism. you get news about that from time to time.
Wait, I can play PP with 4 attackers and 1 defenceman, and I dont get penalized? Is that something new?
From the guide: It is recommended to use 3 forwards and 2 defensemen or 4 forwards and 1 defenseman on power plays. Other line combinations are not that effective. To reach the best results on a penalty kill, you should use 2 forwards and 2 defensemen.
Don't think it is new, but someone else probably can answer that better then me.
