Damn I'm popular in this thread...
And not in a good way.

Please don't take any of this personally. You've done nothing wrong. You were put in a good spot and you played it to perfection. This really has nothing to do with you
But you are a very bright spotlight exposing some serious flaws in this game.
Don't consider this next bit complaining. I honestly rarely think about your team. My eyes are on the Goldfish this season and then whoever are the playoff teams in I.1 for the next 2-3 seasons after that. Looking at things realistically, this is the situation I'm in right now. Assuming we both stay active, I'm 4-5 years from competing with you. That's years, not seasons. I only started 1.6 seasons behind you. And I'm not a terrible manager. Yet you are sprinting further away from me every day. Heck, sprinting is an understatement.

I think you need the OTR bonuses. That's what affects sponsors, and sponsors do want to pay more for a team in the ICups. Maybe they could lower the bonuses.
But I really think removing them (and any sponsor bonuses for placement in the ICups) for the first 4-5 seasons would eliminate a lot of the problems. If someone can still Leggmann the rest of the country without the OTR bonuses and all of the added revenue that comes along with it, then so be it.

Bombsville good game on the 1-1 draw. I finally caved and had to play a game normal and glad I did. Geez I hope to get out this slump but I am at a loss on what I need to do. Really there seems to be no acurate indication on what make one team better then another.
Maybe when I get back from my honeymoon I can spend more time trying to figure this game out.

That is my whole point I think that if the bonuses weren't there the situation would be a lot better. Just adjust the revenue earned from the tournaments to make them worth winning.
OTR is just artificial means of assigning sponsorship money anyways.

speaking of tournaments... look at who you're playing in this next round of NC...
That's probably true. However, I think the idea of OTR is important to PPM. I've always assumed this is something that sets them apart. Or maybe it isn't. I've only played HA and PPM. Maybe other sims have a similar thing?
Anyway. I think it's one of the things that tuttle and co. want. So it isn't going away. In the mindset of the game, it wouldn't make sense to remove OTR bonuses for some games. And sponsors will pay more for a team in an IC. So it will stay. Lowering the OTR bonus for ICs is about all we'll get. And I don't think we'll get that either. Maybe in future sports.

I think that they should just set a maximum OR bonus for a single season so that the top top teams don't run away so rampantly. After say doubling your OTR you gain it at half speed etc so that they're not "penalized" for winning but that it comes at more of a trickle.
I'm not saying get rid of OTR, I like the concept. I'm just saying eliminate the OTR bonuses from tournaments. Base it on league/playoff play only.
I do like your suggestion that OTR boost in Cups should be replaced with money...But then again that boost is usually only 1 OTR point and that is worth approx. 600K in a years worth of general sponsorship and I could see that being annoying in Slovakia or Check Republic where they start the NC in like the forth week of the season but seeing that little boost to your balance would be a nice feeling

and what if they were to make the OTR system a set season cycle like in the WC where you lose a forth of the total points you got from a previous WC each season instead of a flat 30% decrease every season. I think that would provide opportunity for new managers to more quickly get integrated into the game without harming established teams too much.
I like the idea of OTR and I'm fine with the current system of losing 30% each season and international cups providing an additional opportunity to gain OTR. The 30% decrease creates an artificial cap on OTR. The problem I see with the international cups is that the main financial rewards (sponsorships) are not affected by performance in the cups. OTR can be gained, but not at an extravagant rate. Attendance can provide decent revenue as well, but requires an additional investment to increase that revenue in general. I would like to see a reduction in the effect of international cup participation on sponsorship offers and prize money awarded for CL and CWC performance.
In other news, it looks like there was a lot of movement in the top 16 of the league today. i didn't expect that much movement at this point in the season.

Ugh....let that one slip away. Lost 3-2 on 3 PK goals, after the other team went a man down 5 minutes into the match. Led time of possession almost 60-40, too.
