As far as I'm concerned, that makes you a better manager.

Hardly. I made the playoffs once in I.1 in 5 seasons or something crazy. Hardly a success. Worst thing that happened to me was kicking around middle-of-the-pack in that god-forsaken league.

Never a truer word was said.. at least, in 95% of cases.

But if joe blogs joins today and ends up in Div 5... how many seasons will it take for him to make it to div 1? It "should" be doable, with good management. At the moment though, i'm not sure it is.

Sure it is. He just has to be 5 years old and hope that the guys in I.1 become too senile to remember they even play PPM

For god's sake. This isn't whining, you... This is the Suggestions topic. We're trying to help PPM understand what we think is wrong and are trying to come up with solutions to make the game better. I brought up Leggmann because he's what I know. The way he was able to jump out ahead of everyone else is bad for the game.

Here's why it is definitely doable.

1) We're in Season 9 and I already have a good sized arena/facilities. I did make mistakes and there is far more information out there now than when started (such as employee costs and impacts as well as the lack of necessity for the Education Center and SA.

2) When we first started and got lucky to pull a stud, we'd sell him for 10 million if lucky. Now he'll sell for 50-75 million. That is huge in terms of building for the future and will save seasons of catch up time. If the cash progression continues, they can expect even more money from their players. Can you imagine being in IV or V and being able to purchase a maxed out Triple-Multi? It wasn't possible when we started.

exactly, the sad thing is due to the goofy way this game works your team would likely have progressed better if you had been a lesser manager and not promoted. So quit being a baby and just suck more!

Where is that inflated amount of money coming from? The PPM fairies? It's coming from the far more developed teams with vastly higher income than a new team can hope to have for many seasons... If a new team will make more an established team will make even more yet, as it should be.

2) if you're pinning the hopes and dreams of success for new teams on pulling a stud from the SA and selling for 50-75m you're dreaming.

Either way, player values have gone up drastically and that is a huge increase in revenue for new players.
They just need to learn that selling their players will benefit them in the long run.

Selling your players is only a benefit in the long run if you don't mind losing for a long time after you've built your facilities. With that said - how do you know that keeping the players and the OTR gains from winning wouldn't have outpaced the money earned from the sales?

Everyone has their own method which is what makes the game(s) fun. PPM really needs more than anything more layers to the onion of the hockey game - I understand that they're working on other projects now but the game itself with the auto training and the knowledge that you only need to train 4-5 stat categories has turned it into a huge game of paper rock scissors and luck that a rich team isn't bidding on the same players you are when you try to build / rebuild. (if you sold off all your prospects)

These comments all stemmed from a suggestion. Does each suggestion need its own thread to comment in or can comments on suggestions be made in here?

For your point #2 its a losing proposition because who do you think is paying the big bucks for your stud SA pulls? Yep those players in the top leagues. So they start collecting the highest quality young players that they can train in their maxxed facilities and pay the paltry "too many players penalty" and roll these players into their bottom lines as they let their RFAs expire and die (or make even more money off some sucker looking for a short term quick fix).

Look, I love the competition in the game and enjoy training my players using my own methods (not boring 2:1:1) and enjoying my unusual amount of success for having such a weak team. I'm sure my team will get stronger and that I will be more competitive over time, but I'm still enjoying the game.

But the economy in this game is seriously flawed. The gap between the top tier teams and others is widening.

I believe this happened because the top guys are slowly maxing out their facilities (or at least to a level that they can reach safely financially) and in doing so are turning to invest their money into their team in other ways (players, rinks etc.)
