Just started this after i started a soccer one. Was wondering if there where any tips or tricks i need to know. I have little knowledge of hockey
As there were many seasons played already, tips for soccer and hockey are a bit different than from handball.
1. Do never buy any staff. Not until you play 2 full seasons. They are expensive and your facilities are not good enough to make them worth anything.
2. You will be competing in an "easy" league but soon you will realize there are tons of great teams around that have fully developed their facilities or are close to. For the next 2 years (real life) you will never be able to pull any player that is better than your top competition (division 2 or higher), so the only way to compete now is: manage your finance and make more money than your competitor
2a. Invest in your arena/stadium.
2b. Invest in your sports academy: although it may take a while for you to pull great players, once you get some you will be able to sell them for huge amount of money.
2c. Ignore Training Facility/Regeneration for a while. Your goal is to pull players to sell not to train yourself. Build those slow. dont spend money in there when you could on Sports Academy.
2d. Build up the HR. It will allow you to earn good sponsor money.
2e. Buy veteran players. Dont worry about career life. you wont be training them much. they will be used for you to compete. You can find very high Or players for very cheap.
After 3 seasons or so when your sports academy is at level 12 or so AND you sold at least one top prospect earning tons of money, you could start building up the Training Facility so eventually you pull players for yourself.
that would be my recipe for Money Making.
If you play handball (and i recommend it since it is being only 2 full seasons) the strategy would be different as you could catch up with many managers. You will want to build Training Facility and Regeneration as quick as you can too. The compromise will likely be: slower arena development.

Nice advice! I'd recommend 2e as 2 and 2a-2d as 3a-3d.
Agreed with canucks357. For an example of a newer team that has been successful in promoting to division II and competing for a promotion to division I in a very short amount of time, take a look at [hockey_team=53187] from my current league. That team is probably good enough at this point to stick around as a top division II team that spends some time in division I and put everything into the stadium and important facilities for a while without having to spend any more on players.
I'm not so sure about the sports academy. It's extremely rare to pull a player worth tens of millions, and probably impossible until you reach at least level 8 (I suppose you might have a decent chance at level 12). You can probably pull an occasional player worth a few million, maybe enough to earn back the investment and make some profit. It depends on how risk averse you are. A good sports academy will be important like the training facility and regeneration facility in the long run.
