I am in for the long haul. Even purchased the 200 credit pack and used them for a 6 month pro pack. But I'm losing. I know why but I am wondering about my decision. I think playing 4 lines and not over exerting them is the right way to go. My oponents seem to think otherwise. They are playing 3 lines and set them to high and very High. The last opponent went 4 lines normal. When he was behind after the 1st period he then went to high. After 2 he went to very high. It seems they are in to win NOW/ But I want to build a solid franchise. Am I going about it wrong? I upgraded my arena to 1000. I upgraded my facilities to level 3 so far. I have staff positions filled mostly with high quality guys. Last I added just a few better players, 1 line worth almost.
The one time I went with 3 lines I won handily. But the guys lost a lot of energy. Isn't energy important? Once the season energy goes down it doesn't go back up until next season, right? Like I say winning the championship of course would be nice but I want to build a team that contends every year. Am I doing it wrong?
Thanks for your help.

You're doing it right. Not everyone realizes how important energy will be towards the end of the season. Especially in hockey where we have playoffs. Of course, if you don't want to promote, then there is little reason to save energy.
Honestly, as bad as your teams are, you can almost flip a coin to decide who will win. New teams are basically like 5 & 6 year olds out there. The winner is the ones who can stand up on that day
The easiest way to get a leg up on your competition is to pick up a solid goalie. This is really the only place where I would recommend a new team to splurge. But you have to pick the right goalie and you have to make sure you don't overpay. Most of the teams in your league have goalie ratings in the 20s. You could upgrade that quite easily and cheaply. If you want some help finding a decent one, just message me and I'll help you look for one.

Just put a player on the market that you could find some use for.

I listed him once this season and he didn't sell so you should be able to get him cheap.

Not even close but someone that can help a new team out and is just going to get released from my team.
Well, I used to have a team that came in solid 13th in myfirst season. I quickly relized that it was my players. I simply just went to the market, purchased a boatload of random players, chose whick ones i keep, which ones i sell, and now, i have a 411 attribute leveled goalie in net for me. And now Im #1 in my league. Once you have a solid foundation, when you win about 15-20 games in a row, thats the time to be looking at how good the players are that are on the market. I always thought that the blue bar was how good they were, but its not and i ended up costing me in the longrun but now I have good, healthy players. If you need more help, just msg me.
It all depends on how you go at it, really. I went into the market and looked for players that were trainable, usually with one attribute that was not stellar. But, I spent less than $20k average per player, and boosted my roster significantly. First thing I went after, of course, was a goalie. While i was doing that, I was building facilities. So, once I acquired 4 lines of decent players, I started throwing my good starter players into training camps. They now make up two mediocre fourth lines. Now, I can start saving energy among my starters by rotating those lines in and out.
