No, but because of him, i was able to get a big point, while my guys are at camp.
ah. gotcha. yeah I did the exact thing a couple of weeks ago.
I bought 2 guys for 50k each prior to heading to camp. I was ok with spending that much because both of their contracts were expiring within days of my camp finishing up. The savings of not having to buy out their contracts or hold them long term was a big factor in how much I wanted to pay on the market.
The one guy I still actually have though. I renewed his contract because he went down with a 20 day injury a few days before his contract was set to renew. I decided that paying him to be injured for a while was worth it. I plan to use him for friendlies at season's end when I run my 2nd camp, and then trash/sell him.
So basically I paid 100k for 2 guys. I got 4 wins while I was in camp, and get 20 days of injury insurance (hopefully) heading into the playoffs.
Since I make a $million for every win I get, that was probably the best 100k I ever spent.

I gave this guy a 1 day contract. So i will let him go today.

never mentioned that team USA and babies failed. they rebuilt.
team USA was going down so rebuild cold be smart
Babies .. not sure if it was smart but they have some very talented youngsters and playing them on D2 would give good return for the future.
fighting Okra .. well, players were just put for sale and currently in 8th place. So its not that it was a successful season.
If you compare, I also kept "rebuilding" my team as i sold my best player almost every season...
S1: Boris Gold - was 2nd in OR if i recall. Also sold 2 others that were pretty damn good (for season 1)
S2: Lloyd Faulk - was my best player (or second)
S3: Mario Tubbs - my best player
s4: none sold yet, but season is not over yet.
Fighting Okra is not even selling the best players. At least not yet, so very smart Id say.
Even on rebuilding process they are (or finished) better than teams that were not rebuilding but failed: Microwave and Orlando

As I said before I am retooling and getting some needed financing.. this isn't some giant rebuild going on or a sell-off of everyone. They are players that I acquired through my SA way early on when everyone's facilities were pretty sub-par that I can now cash in on.
It's not as if I never had backups to begin with
Sure offensively I may be slightly weaker.. but in the big picture with better facilities to train my younger acquisitions I will be in a better position in the future. Will I challenge for a title? No, that was never my intention. It is to stay here a while build and get the better sponsor deals.
I believe the lineup I field will be competitive enough to keep me where I want to be while building for the future. It's a sprint not a marathon. I know exactly where I am going with my plans.

And a final note... it's not as if Division II is stacked full of world-beater teams, a few good ones yes but that is all. I have it covered if some of ideas don't do as planned.
Update from the Shadow Babies: profits exceeded expectations from the starter sales. After some consideration, I have decided to do a hybrid-rebuild of sorts. While my high quality Americans will still be playing, the rest of the positions will be filled by potential future superstars from the market. In a few seasons, I should be more competitive than ever, just with more than one American in my lineup.

LOL i played to demote all season. I was building chemistry and experience on my team. Starters and back ups. Now I am fielding my D2 team to see how they play. Finishing 7th or 8th again is a death sentence for my OTR. Better to take the hit this year, drop down for 2 seasons. Keep building the core with the cheaper D2 salaries. I actually have a strong team developing now and my big guys salaries are coming up early next season. Next two years are about gaining OTR and getting the core 15 year olds experience. I did not play tactics this season and rotated my whole team all season long. I have a very cheap team that will be a top D2 team.
Everything according to plan.

Why don't you start with a bid on my stud 15 year old goalie.

Haha, I'll be going for an even better goalie at some point. He doesn't quite meet the requirements.

He is going to be at 400 OR by the end of season.

cheers, but there's one more game and your starters are out of camp while mine are not (:
so it's not over yet...
so it's not over yet...
