Well i guess having a good team means nothing in this game. Or maybe rating mean nothing. I really just dont know or get it. Now I am starting to see why Vowls quit.

The game is off right now, but I honestly think it will get better. We lost two(?) seasons of game updates when the old programmer left. They're now talking about improvements, so the new guy must be getting settled in.

As far as having the better team, we're still talking about children at this point. Anyone can beat anyone. The top team strength at the beginning of this season was your 37. The worst was Juvetus' 25. But most of us are between 30 and 37. That's not a big difference.

Are our hockey players still children or are they finally adults maybe preteens in your eyes, b/c no one beats leggman or has for like the last 5 season and his players were only the same difference when he was stomping everyone into the ground. I'm only 36 points from him and yet there seems to be no real way to beat him other then when the game decided he just has to lose. I'm entitled to feel the way I do and vent an little, when I loss games that I feel I shoud win. Also who used the word better. I purposefully used the word "GOOD" for the simple fact that all the teams are still kids or your team isnt the better counter arguement people can just stay away and let me be. I think having a team rated a 39 is good. At least good enough to be 39 in the world. Really, it was late I saw I lost was pissed haven't won a game in a while just was blowing off steam.

I really just disagree with the it's early teams really aren't that different response. I don't understand what people define as close. Do you go based on 30 vs 15 as just a 15 point diffence or do people see 30 vs 15 as a team that is twice as strong. Numerical or Ratio? You're eith one or the other & I am a ratio person. I see a team that is 30 vs 15 as a stronger team then a 100 vs 85.

Leggmann has ruined hockey. I don't even want to discuss him

Okay, I'll discuss him first. There's a guy who was like him in HockeyArena. Dude lives in the Czech Republic, but was allowed to play in the US when they first added our country (well before my time in HA). He dominated for 15-20 seasons. That's not a typo. And 20 seasons is conservative. He won everything he wanted to win. He actually purposely lost the league title so he could win the NC, which got him into their version of the CWC. He had never won the CWC because he was always winning the league & playoff titles, so he went into the ChL every season. He finally stopped caring as much or something because he's not the dominant team that he was. HA is better for it.

I honestly don't think we'll catch up to Leggmann until we all have level 15s and Triple Multis across the board AND his good players start retiring. He just has too much of a head start. You have a chance, but it's probably too big of a head start for me to ever catch him unless he becomes a terrible manager for 4-5 seasons.

As far as how I view the team strengths in soccer, it's not really a numbers thing for me. I imagine that we're like little league teams. There's some very good teams and there's some very bad teams. But it doesn't take much for the very bad team to beat the very good team. It happened all the time when soccer first started. People were losing to NoNs all the time and they sucked. By the end of the first season, we were beating them regularly.

Since this is soccer and every goal is precious, I think it'll be 5 or 6 seasons in before we'll have anything close to guaranteed wins over the weaker teams. Even then, it won't be like hockey. There will still be some upsets. That's the nature of the sport.

i am just hoping they start rolling up some updates to the game engine..its been a while and nothing new has been added

I don't understand all the criticism on leggman. He is simply doing what ll of us are trying to do, have the best team out there.,, Can't really blame him for getting started early. Obviously a team like his hockey team who is in D1 for many seasons now, has been reaping the benefits of all the extra money. When it comes down to it, this game isn't as realistic as real life. But even in real life, money does give you some advantage already, just look at the Yankees or Red Sox, Manchester United, stupid man city now....

Maybe there is more to the story about leggman... i never had a problem with him though. I've been unfortunate to get seeded with him 3 years in a row in the NC.. lol

...man that conversation got sidetracked, I do agree with you, however I feel once you get an edge in this game you can perverbably run away and hide because the degradation (decrease) of OTR is a flat 30%. I honestly don't think anyone dislikes Leggman personally, just his hockey team...and from what I can tell there are others like him and not many since he has consistently been one of the highest OTR teams.

as for Blackkat's grievance that team strength doesn't mean as much in this game, I agree. Soccer by it's very nature is much much much more unpredictable than Hockey. I personally am more comfortable with this game than the Hockey version mainly because I know the sport much more.

The way I see it, when planning strategy in a sport as unpredictable as soccer is calculated risk. I don't think ratios are true from what I've seen of in game ratings and preformance. Just comparing your soccer team to mine, I have a 28 individual skill to your 32 skill. I took the average OTR of our entire teams and top 11 and I got 87.5%, 95%, and 91%. Calculating the player's rating from each of our last games I got...84.5%. Not quite a perfect ratio, just averaging those numbers got me 90 percent (rounding the 84.5 because I did so for the other numbers). I'm not going to try to figure out how the rest is calculated but its either/or between ratios and some kind of coefficient.

Personally, I think you'll get out of your slump eventually, hang in there.

I'm not criticizing Leggmann. He's a good guy and a great manager. I hope he didn't take any of that post personally. I have nothing wrong with him or what he's done. He's just the poster boy for what's wrong with the system.

Like Rayvok said. If you get on top in the beginning, with a good team, you're gone. That's not the way it should be. Eliminate those ICup OTR bonuses for the first 3-5 seasons after a game launches and you would have a more competitive game. Leggmann would still be on top most every season, but he wouldn't be running away from everyone else.

Frankly I think that there should be no OTR bonuses for all those extra tourneys. All they should give you is revenue. Thats a large enough benefit by itself and incentive enough to win them. Just make the prize pools equal to the task and leave OTR out of it.

How about a luxury tax like MLB? lol
