Question about Goaltending Strength:

My GS was around 194 with goalies A (starter) and B, and I have just acquired a new goalie C and put him as starter for today's game and the GS turned out to be 178, with goalies C and A.

And the new goalie (C) is better than my previous starter (A) in attributes & experience, with the exception of chemistry of course. C however has 82 energy compared to A's 87, but the PPME rated C higher than A even accounting energy and chemistry (and every other category), so I was wondering how the strength number would decrease if the two of them were put in the lineup?

Odd PPME rated them differently. Chemistry has a big impact - I've yet to nail down exactly but it may be ~25%. PPME may show 10% or 20% in the calculation.

Ah ok gotcha, so chemistry's the biggest influence in this case.

Good question Mr Lee, I saw the same thing in a couple of goalies, and noticed the better goalie looked a lot worse. Even my two goalies are almost identical but 10 chemistry makes quite the impact.

Especially for high skill players. 20% of 800 is A LOT more than 20% of 200.

Is there a possibility that chemistry influence increase is not linear? A logarithm curve would make sense in real world. The influence of chemistry between 0-20% and 80-100% is maybe more important.

That is the data from when I bought my 800+ primary goalie. The change in fit lines there is when he lost an energy point.

Looking back, it appears exp is 25% bonus for 100 exp and chem is 20% for 100 chem.

Wow, I never saw that graph before. Good job once again, it doesn't get any clearer than that to infirm my hypothesis.

But as the chemistry increased, the experience increased as well. Is this graph a combination of both factors?

Experience went from 168 to 169 right when his energy dropped one point. You can see the slopes roughly equal, it was the intercept that changed (decreased). This tells me that the loss skill due to energy was greater than the gain in skill due to one more experience point. This jives with 20% for 100 exp and 1% for -1 energy.

And your RF was at top when you registered the date, right?

The change they made in experience vs importance this year makes even more sense with your result in mind. It offers you the possibility to increase experience for long-term payoff by sacrificing energy.

Energy is renewed every year, experience grows over seasons, perfect for a transition season.

With a new team, if you get a really good prospect from the academy, is it better to sell him or to keep him?

Well thanks for the answer, but what if I'm disapoited by the market? I'm sometime scared that the market will not see my player and that I wont get enough for what he could worth.

PS: I don't have at the moment a good prospect, but it's a situation that could happen.

You can sell him and get money proportional to how good he is. Or, keep him and he'll have a hard time ever being worth that much on the market again since his training rate will be much lower than average.
