What if either is more important for players... overall rating or average quality?

Both :p

OR can range from 100 to 400 at 15, that is a LOT. But AQ can range from 1 to 99 XD So it really depends case by case.

I don't know if either is more important. Here's why: With OR, it's just a reflection of all the attributes. Say you have a player, a winger, who is low on passing, goaltending, and defense. Suppose he is a 250 on offense, 125 on technique and aggression, and a 200 on shooting. Now imagine the same player, only he has slightly higher numbers in passing, goal, and on D. The play quality pretty much isn't going to change, but the second player could be as much as 50-60 OR higher. With average quality, if his non-essential qualities are low but his main qualities good, then his average isn't that important.

It depends on Age & CL. In older players who won't train very well, OR is more important. For a younger player, AQ is more important. Sort of. What's really important for young players is EQ.

EQ is the Effective Quality. That's similar to AQ except it only averages the Qs from the attributes that the player's position needs. As an example:
Winger A has Qs of 70G/70D/70O/70S/70P/70T/70A
That's an AQ of 70, and an EQ of 70.
Winger B has Qs of 5G/10D/95O/95S/95P/95T/95A
That's an AQ of 70, but an EQ of 95.

Judging them by AQs means you have a couple of nice players. Judging by EQs you have one nice player and one of the best forwards in the game.

I have some players with AQs in the 70s who never play unless everyone is in camp. On the other hand, I also have a 58AQ who has been starting for 7 seasons. He seems like a crappy player, right? But his EQ is actually around 75.

I would say OR is also important, but my best player developed from a 15yo 170or to 23yo with 870or. So starting OR isn't that big of a deal if you're patient.

I looked back over the past year and I haven't seen a discussion about what the best ratio is between the main and secondary attributes for a player. For instance: for a center, is a 5:2 (e.g. 100/40/40) more desirable than at 2:1 (e.g. 100/50/50) ratio?

It's 2:1:1 for everyone. I tried to fight it for the longest time. The more top players I scouted, the more 2:1:1 I saw. I finally gave up and started transitioning to a 2:1:1. So PPM will probably issue an update 'fixing' this about two weeks after my team gets there.

I think 2:1 is most widely used. But there are some who uses 55-65% of primary for the secondaries.

Another, if you don't mind: Is a primary/second/second of say, 55-40-40 preferable to a 60-30-30?

Any of my fellow PPMers live in the great state of California? I am headed there on Sunday for 2 weeks and will be in the greater-LA area.

Before I ask my question Im just gonna put it out there that Ive been a owner since season 1, I play casually cause 1) I have 2 jobs and 2) Im in grad school, so the time element is not always there for me to become an expert at this game. But here is the question:

How can I become more financially stable with my team? I just can't seem to ever get ahead, I dumped/sold all my high priced staff and went from $900k to $300K in staff salaries, I always schedule friendlies, but continue to be "in the red" on a weekly basis, which has prevented my team/franchise from growing and getting better at the paces other teams from my leagues are.

Any suggestions would be great. If anyone would like more indepth details of my expenses vs income on a week to week basis for better advice you can message me and Ill be glad to give additional info.

I just feel like Im spinning my wheels on a weekly basis and getting no where in this game. Any help or advice would be great. :/

So far it looks like yoeu've managed your team very well and your facilities are better than some of div II teams. The only suggestion looking at what i can see is that you upgrade your Human resources so that you can get a better sponsership offer at the end of the year, and maybe bigger stands sense your filling uo your current ones
