I sometimes read posts. But I often don’t understand

Whenever you have questions, just ask. There are lots of people out here who are both willing and able to explain. I wish I had. It would have helped me avoid a ton of mistakes.

does anyone know what it means on a players Attributes if the number is in red instead of the usual black

If a player's player type is set, their primary attribute will be bold, and their secondary attributes will be red.

Thank you, but I'm not too worried. I had all of my difficult matches early in the season. I expected to lose to the Razorback Thugs, Montana Miners, and Bouncing Pucks. In addition to losing to those 3 teams, I got 1 out of 6 points in two winnable but competitive matches (I expected to get ~3 points). I expect 15-18 points in my next 6 games. Both the Rockland Rage and War Pigs have incredibly difficult schedules over the next 6 games. It's possible that I could gain a game on Smart People and Sticky Toads. I don't seriously expect to catch up to the top 3 teams (I'm still at least 3 seasons away from having a mature roster).

what is the advantage to setting a players type

It just visually shows the important attributes for a player to train. When looking at the training page or the lineup page, you can see the types of a player just by the font. You can also sort by player type if you set it for everyone. This is more useful in basketball where players from other positions might be counted under different positions, and prospects that still have a lot of growth left might not yet be counted under their future position. In hockey, if you are filling out a lineup, you can sort all the centers together instead of sorting by offense and having the centers and wingers combined.

It's not really a big deal. It's just a moderately helpful feature.

thanks again Cap....one last question, it seems impossible to train a young player of low OA to a point over 2000, is there a trick/method to it or just luck of the draw

You don't really have the facilities to train to 2,000 at this point. You'd need at least a level 13 training and regeneration facility.

Important factors include training facility and staff (you need good facilities for staff to matter), regeneration facility and staff, sports academy and staff, good qualities, good luck with CL, good luck with injuries, call ups to NT teams if possible for training bonuses, good starting OR, pulling a good player as early in the season as possible, and inclusion in 14 days of training camps per season.

OK.....I understand.....I'm a long way from level 13, but the costs are incredibly high.......would you be better off spending everything on facilities at first and fielding a horrible team for a bunch of seasons or try to keep both team and facilities growing equally

It's best to focus on building your earning power first: HRE facility+arena capacity and eventually your maintenance facility (once you are starting to spend a lot on maintenance costs). Building those accelerates how fast you can build everything else. If you build up your other facilities too much, it's possible to get to a point where you have sub-optimal facilities while breaking even or losing money due to maintenance costs.

You can fill out your team with cheap players in their 30's (though be careful of spending too much on salaries). Good staff members are also a major waste of money until you have high level facilities.
