You know, I was thinking today as I browsed through my handball staff members, that it'd be a whole lot more interesting (not to mention cooler) if staff members were handled kind of like players.
By that I mean, instead of having SPECIFIC staff members (ie. coaches, managers, etc.), it would be much more interesting to have just "staff," each with 14 different attributes and qualities (much like how every player has a goaltending stat).
That way, you could decide which is the best job for them based on their ratings and Qs. It would also make the market for staff members much more interesting (who even buys physicians?).
I'd honestly LOVE to see that in basketball (and the other all of the sports too, but it might be too late for them at this point).

lol I just found out this thread existed and it looks like nobody else noticed it either. XD
That is actually a cool idea, but I honestly have no opinion on it. I think the way it is set up now is fine, but that definitly sounds interesting.

It would be interesting, but everyone would want to make managers and sports managers. It would take some of the randomness out of pulling staff members.
Well no... i mean... they would be similar to players (ie they'd have a random Q for each attribute).
If a guy has 87 quality in arena maintenance and poor qualities in other stuff, who would make him a manager or sporting director?
That's like saying that everyone would make every player into a goalie, even if they don't have the innate qualities to be one...

Goalies, defenders, and forwards are all valuable. Managers and sports managers in particular are substantially more important than the other staff members. If I didn't have any staff member with more than a quality of 40 in youth training or marketing, I would still train a guy with a quality of 87 in arena maintenance to be a manager unless I had a better alternative. Staff like arena custodians and lecturers aren't really worthwhile until later on, and even then, they aren't even close to as valuable as some of the other staff members. Of course, this would cause the value of managers to fall until they approached the value of arena custodians, maybe.
oh... i see what youre saying. yeah I suppose you're right. but that would be a pretty simple fix i'd imagine.
tweak the settings for how effective each staff member job is. *shrug*

The idea is actually interesting, as long as that problem could somehow be deal with.
Even if not as part of the implementation of this idea, the other staff members should be made more effective.
The other problem is that staff members only need to be effective in one area. A staff member with a 99 in marketing and a 1 in every other area would still be extremely valuable. Of course, this does raise the possibility of interesting combinations. Maybe I could eventually have my sports manager negotiate my sponsors at the end of the year. Maybe various combinations could provide a bonus (for instance a staff member trained as both a coach and physician could train players to be more resistant to injuries, or a coach with scouting could make countertactics more effective).
