you know... it'll be interesting to see how many people fade away from handball now that basketball is getting into full swing.
Handball already has by far the fewest managers of all the sports (BY FAR), and I fear that it'll be a pretty bare bones crew once people get into basketball. Consider the participation levels in the 4 sports:
hockey - 428 teams
soccer - 429 teams
handball - 150 teams
basketball - 396 teams
Handball currently has less than HALF the participation of other sports. It makes sense I guess, because team handball isn't really on people's radar here in the U.S., but it's just kind of a shame, because I actually like the handball game engine the best of all four sports.
Success and team strength aside, I really like how the tactics, lineup, training, and facilities work. Granted some of this is the same in basketball (facilities for instance), and there's also the addition of the "height" characteristic (which is interesting i guess) but I haven't really seen much else that's spectacular enough in basketball to make me want to drop my attention to handball and focus on it instead.
In the past couple of months, there's already been several handball managers that have expressed the desire to quit and move on... and now that there's a more popular (by american standards) alternative to switch to, I'd imagine that trend to continue.
Kind of a shame to be honest.

It will be relatively easy to stay competitive at international level and it will still be fun considering there is only 14 teams per league and 3 leagues per division. The way it is set up now will allow us to get top notch players and as long as that doesn't change Im cool.
