Just thought I'd create a forum for people to discuss why they lost their match. Hopefully this will clear up the question and answers thread for things which can definitively be answered.
I thought I should add a checklist for managers wondering why they lost.
-what importance did you and opponent use? low on the road vs normal is likely to lose.
-what tactic did you use? Every tactic has one that it is strongest against as well as 1 that it is weakest against. Note your opponents tactic and check around to see what tactics are more likely to win against it and which are more likely to lose. Do the same for the tactic you played. That wont help this game but it may help your next...
-energy. What is the seasonal energy of your players? If you've been playing on high or even normal very much your players are bound to be tired. You're going to lose more and more this season...
-random/luck, It happens! If you play what seems to be a much weaker team you may lose for no apparent reason. The thing is if you were to play a series against them you will end up winning out... if you are indeed a superior team.
I've yet to hear an reason given to why someone lost a match other than what's been posted above. I would love to hear some other reasons tho like perhaps the ice wasn't set, nsblues gave them bad food, trueblue gave them Australian beer, canucks distracted them with tittycats, or Popaji lured them with sexy Serbian women, etc...

I see no problem. He's got a better keeper than you, and by the looks of it either better PK lines or better defense.
Your teams are actually pretty evenly matched, it could have gone either way.
My only suggestion is this... you should check your PP lines.

I don't know what more I can do with my PP lines, if you want to have a look, just ask, I'll send you my whole roster
and his goalie, he's not waaay better than mine, I checked, difference is 5 on goalkeeping... (chemistry and experience are a bit higher though)

Similar thing happened to me. Only in my case my opponent sent me photo of his lines and although he had better relation tech:agg, he was like 30 or 40points weaker in main skills of each player, so that couldn't be the cause. Brotherke got hit by a random, period.
LOL @ Random.
Those 2 teams are very similar in strength... it's not like a weak team whooped his ass now is it!

similar, but perfect countertactic, almost 3x as many shots, and he scores SH ? this SH mistery has been going on all season now, curious what you can say about that, PP almost didn't change compared to other seasons
his goalie is nice, mine are similar (experienced one is even better due to experience), the younger one played, he has like 5 GK skills less, is that the cause, don't think so
damn random, and shorthandmistery!

The way I see it, your tactic may be better, but his home-ice advantage balances that out.
We've all been bitten by the shorthanded thing. That is definitely something PPM need to look at, so i agree with you.
But the game resulted in a 1-1 draw. In the overall aspect of the PPM game, these 2 teams are pretty much identical. I imagine if you played 10 games against each other, you would probably come close to splitting the series. I could be wrong, but there really isn't anything huge that makes one team "better" than the other.
You have stronger lines, he has better shooting.
There is random in every single game.. it happens in real life, also. But these 2 teams are not "hugely" different in this case, so the whole "blame it on random" is laughable.

problem is that we have like 30% "strange" matches in our league, that's a bit much don't you think
and the thing is, you manage to score SH yourself, I don't (I'm 0-5 down, you're at 3-5) and I'm not even talking international games here (only teamanalysis)

I just can't see how could they be similar in strength.
I line: 9-9 8-10 2 pucks
II line: 7-9 7-10 5 pucks
III line: 6-10 7-10 7 pucks
IV line 5-9 6-9 7 pucks = 21 pucks difference !
It's just too big. If you said small difference in shooting, that could go. And maybe if first line made most ice time, but that is not implemented yet.
