In your example you are missing too many elements. Your example is based around the very principle of a randomly generated system, which PPM is not.

Here is how you should be looking at it:

Player A has the ball (a striker). The system is about to run a calculation of him coming up against a defender, so the system takes into account that strikers attributes (offense, technique, passing, etc etc) and the defenders attributes, and maybe also adds a bit of extra formula for home-field advantage. The system determines that player A has a higher chance of getting around player B, and therefore he flips the ball one way, goes the other way etc etc.

End of calculation #1. As he made it past the defender, the system now runs calculations #2... the goalie.

The system takes into account the shooters attributes and the goalies attributes, and home field advantage etc, and runs the math to determine the chance of a goal or a save. The player shoots... and either scores, or not. If the shot is blocked, we have a corner.. so the system then runs calculations #3, the corner, which has an entirely NEW set of calculations featuring the kick-takers attributes, the teams defense, the teams goalie, the offensive player going for the ball etc etc.

During all of this, there was absolutely zero random involved. Now sure, there is leeway on the amount of chance a play might have, but EVERY calculation is done based upon actual math. That's not random, that's a very advanced system of determining chance.

But is the system built like that? And how advanced is the engine? At the moment there is only a huge black box where these calculations are made. We only have Vladys word for it to be more or less so.

I already stated out to you what could be called chance and what- random. If you disagree with that, I doesn't matter that much, because my post is hardly about gramatics- it's really not that important whether you call the dispersion in number genrating process random, chance, luck, fortune or anything else

Yep, it made the example very simple on purpose. But what I ment to say, there is random involved in chance calculation. I didn't mean that the whole match engine is just lottery Every choise you make, increases/decreases your balls in lottery bowl

I think you're right about that way, how the engine works....but, my problem is: in hockey it's more or less clear which factors are used to solve the calculations...but in football, no way...no idea about the factors...not talking about the factors itselfs, which means i.e. a factor is obviously the skill-ratio of a player,not talking about the correct ratio, just to know the ratio is a factor....so, what other factors? Hometeam? What else...??

After 1 season of hockey game, did you know all that factors ?

Time will solve all your issues, just be patient !

If there is multiple calculations for each scoring chances then there must be multiple endings for each of those chances. And the differences are decided at those calculation points. Right?

This is easy to test. If we pick one scoring chance and post it here at the forum. Then everybody follows it in their own live feeds, and if it shows up, writes down the result of this one chance. So over time, we should have solved all possible scenarios.

Why to do this? Well, to find out:

1. Are there multiple calculations?
2. How many different calculations are in one scoring chance?

A lot more!
