So, am I the only one that sees something a little different than usual? I mean it may be from the fact that it showed up in my team news like 2 seconds ago and hasn't finished setting it up for round 1 but it looks a little...funky.
Do these seeds really mean anything at this point? I'm 3rd, i've never been 3rd in anything in my life. You know the catchy phrase, "It's always in the last place you look."....Well thats generally where i'm found.
well... I was hoping to make a splash in the national cup this season since I'm in a low league and had energy to waste.
Turns out, my team is so bad that even when I blow tons of energy, I still can't make it very far.
So depressing.

I'm in I.1 and was taken out in the first round by someone in my league. It happens.
I really do NOT like this random format. People say they don't want things handed to them, but ASKED for this change where the top teams can take each other out and pave the way for a low-tier team to win it all? This season we're all mostly even, but after a few seasons where people earn their positions, I think people are going to grow to dislike that change.

I'm fine with it due to the struggles my soccer team has had in the tournament, I always find myself seeded outside the top 8 and ultimately fall 1 round shy of making the CwC. So having two of the top 8 seeds playing each other early could be just the boost I need. If I'm one of the unlucky teams that has to play a top team early, its no different than falling short every other time anyway.
Its not going to make a difference for the low tiered teams anyway, as they're always going to run into a team that beats them, but those who are seeded 11th-16th have a higher shot of making an international cup and breaking the cycle of the same teams going every season. I think that's the whole point of the random seeding.
My gripe with it, however, is that since there is no home advantage, whichever of the two teams has the larger arena should host the game. No team in the IV divisions in soccer would rather play against a I.1 team in their 400 seat arena when the alternate is the other team's 80,000 seat arena. That's a difference of $4 million in revenue that can be a huge boost for the lower division team for a game they're going to lose no matter what arena its in.

wait... i thought the random seeding was just for the first season or two?
is it permanently like that in basketball? because I agree, in the longer term, that doesn't make much sense.

I love the random seed. This is how it should be. Pure random. But I think I.1 should come in round 2 or 3 depending on the depth of the leagues.
i wish ppm would just give the lower seed the higher seed team whenever the lower win. that, fro example, would "reward" a lower team that beat the #1 with easier schedule.
since ppm doesn't, then i'd have to say i like the random as it is much better and fair than the current.
I agree with ngrover about the arena issue. match should be played on the higher capacity arena since there is no home court advantage.

It's funny because I just got seeded in pot one. Got happy then quickly realized that pot two was a lot better gosh lol
