The US leadership is in process of putting together a new mentoring program to help new players, and hopefully help grow membership. Anyone interested in being a mentor please send me an PM so we can get a list going and be up and running with this a little quicker!
Thanks for your help.

This is would be the same program that I tryed to get started a while back. So, all managers who were a Mentor back then and who still want to help, we like to hear from you. Sooner we can get this part setup, sooner we can get signups started for our New Managers who would be looking to be assigned to a Mentor.
This is a great program and encourage that experienced players sign-ups. Its a very usefull program that we need to get started but we need experienced managers. If you would like to help you say something and be a mentor so we can get this show on the road!!!
In the past nothing was really done with this program. It was sign up and then it just sort of hung in limbo. There needs to be specific approach and actions in mind. To work it has to be a proactive system and not passive hoping to get people to ask for help.
For a couple seasons I spent a lot of time contacting every new manager and offering help and advice. Only a dozen or so ever even replied but I think it helped them get an understanding of the game. Most people just seem to sign up and mess around and then never log back in again.
I tried to get them to include an advice guide for all managers to receive when they sign up but the idea was rejected. Note it wasn't my guide but the concept of a guide the community could assemble to help new members to the community.

Right now, we are getting everything put together, start communicating with New Managers and hopfully be able to have a more proactive approach then before as you have said.
This is going to be something that I hope that each of us that are on the Support Team will make sure will be more sucessful then before.
We'll see about getting a Guide together that can we can have available for not just Newbies, but those who could use a refreshers course. Give us the time to get everything put together and we'll get this stuff rolling.
So, right now, we are just finding out who is available to be a Mentor and we're planing on contacting New Managers. We'll post updates as the updates become available.

I was actually a beneficiary of the earlier mentor program. and as much as I benefited from it, the previous mentor program fell short of the mark, as BigD said. It's actually not that unusual. I've played other games that offered mentoring...and then nothing because there was no real organization, merely just a good idea. these things need to be well organized to work. the Support team is working to put a framework together so this can go forward. we need the help of those who have experience and are willing to share it with new players. A guide is a great part of that. Do you still have that draft guide? I'll PM my email and you can forward it to us.
one other thing...Eeoulo made a great point. lots of people sign up...very few carry on with it for much after that. one game I used to send welcome message to new members had a response rate of less than 10%. one problem we could not fix was the majority of the failures never logged in after being approved for teams. this is common in a lot of games. but, from that experience I learned the more personal involvement we can provide, the more likely we can retain those players that do sign in, and the stronger the US community will become.
That all sounds about right.
What I did here was most every day after I checked my game results and training is go through the list of new managers that signed up that day (or since the last time I sent out welcomes) and sent them a welcome I had prepared. I sent you a copy of it. Those who did bother to reply seemed very appreciative of it and it was cool for me since I got to know a few cool people.

It's true! I wasn't going to name names or anything. I've always been glad it helped you and others.
Ok guys, this Mentor Program is something that I've wanted to see be used here on PowerPlay Manager. I would like to see this program get rolling. So, we need managers who are willing to help in Mentoring the new managers who ask for the help from a Mentor.
I know for some, you guys already look to help new managers as the seasons on here move along and that is great that you guys already do. So, my question is, for those who already do this, could you be able to help in taking on at least 1 other manager who may ask to have a Mentor?
So, to signup to be a Mentor, send me a message on PM. I am going to be in charge of managing the list of who are mentors and who ask to be setup with a mentor, so we know who asks to be mentored and who are available to mentor.
Lets get on board and get this program rolling.

I can help. Just give an idea more specifically what you're looking for.
