Asunto: U18 Canada National Team

Let's try this from a different angle Boba. Bobby clearly dominates the national scene. He IS our manager. Surrounding him is the usual glee club, pom poms and all. Your cheerleading squad clearly buys into his whole "elder statesman"/"national team fixture" type of persona. I, on the contrary, see him as a "stubborn stain". (See: Mrs. Leary - "I've tried ABC 3-in-1, but I just can't get that stain out!"

I looked at Mat as a hopeful sign, but the last flicker of light seemed to go out with him not running. Now the glee club has welcomed in Kraafty, but I am afraid that his downbeat, depressive sounding "Outside of you, nobody cares" type of soundbytes doesn't quite match with what a cheerleading squad should be all about.

Also, criticizing the advice to sell players is weird. When a new team has low training facilities, good sports academy players will not train at all and become bad high Q low OR players. If new team sell them, they can get quick cash to advance facilities and rink, which is how you advance. It's good advice.

You just twist everything to fit your narrative. Claiming managers say to sell good players TO THEM. It's an open auction. There is no way to sell players directly to other players.

The reason this game in decline is not NT managers. That's a spurious correlation. The decline started when the devs stopped supporting the game. Just because you refuse to even entertain that doesn't make it false.

Grievance? I don't have a grievance Sammy. PPM has loopholes and gray areas that certain kinds of individuals will always exploit. I mean, the Canadian government is far from perfect and welfare scams occur. "Everyone else is doing it man!"

Hey, like I say above, if George/Jeanne were still in the game then it would be that name up in lights as well. But I don't think that was a real person. No, I think it was just another shell team that gave Bobby yet another free pass. So it is only you now.

I don't have a grievance at all here Sammy. If you want to take your "good name" and sell it dirt cheap to your friends, then that is up to you. I guess what is kind of unattractive, though, is when these same people come on the boards and tell the new guys how to play the game. You know, acting like respected fixtures on the Canadian scene.

Because that is pretty ugly.

If you go back to pg. 99 here, April 16, Bobby tells Boba that he "had already done the adds and cuts" to the U18 team befor Mat took over the team. Almost no manager in Canada today has run a national team so they don't understand how bad this is. During the first week of a new season, the incumbent retains control of the team. They can make roster changes, even though an election is going on. It's a flaw in the game that was never fixed.

Key here is that any roster adds or cuts are PERMANENT. You can't change them. Email the manager of Lillian's Team in Holland and ask him how he felt taking over an empty roster because the outgoing guy didn't understand the national game. He ran that season with a 16 year old roster...

So it's an honour thing. You don't do that. I mean, if you are running against a no name guy from Macedonia and the preferential votes were 12-1, then okay. But the first round was 6-4 for Bobby ovrr Mat and that's kind of close...

So why did Bobby do this? ?? Ask Bobby.

He didn't know this issue? Impossible. He had won 25 times previously. If he really hadn't figured this out by now then why is he running national teams.

He wanted to "help" Mat? Nobody asked for the help.

He wanted to screw Mat? Well, I sure hope not. But when you see his behaviour when he lost, it kind of makes you wonder.

My guess is that Bobby just assumed he would win. Assumed that the national teams are an entitlement.

Samuel? I would like your confirmation on my last message. As the last surviving national manager of the "good old days" in Canadian PPM hockey, do we not hang on to our roster moves until after the election is completed? Or am I wrong here...?

Paul, from my understanding there is a set date where roster changes are permanent.

The posts you are referring to, Bobby had added 2 players of mine to the U18 team, I guess before the election had ended. Mat then went and removed them after he had won. So it seems like Mat was able to alter the roster as he wanted and wasn't stuck with the roster Bobby had set, like you're saying here.

I could be wrong, but that sequence of events seems to me like Mat was able to change anything Bobby had done.

Also, you seem to have a lot of issues with things that are allowed in the game (moving up or down leagues, selling players, setting NT rosters) and deem them "not honorable or manipulation". You should be directing these issues to the game managers, rather than players who aren't breaking any rules by doing what the game allows.

And just an FYI, I joined the game before Samuel did.

I do not remember the specifics of this. I know that when the season rolls over, the players who age out are taken off the lineup. The previous manager retains his powers in order to avoid not having enough players to play the first 2 or 3 games of the season while the elections happen.

I am unclear what the specifics of these events were in this scenario. If he added some players to avoid this issue, then I see nothing wrong.
