Asunto: Pet Peeves

I start this thread with two main objectives in mind.

1) Just a good place to vent and commiserate
2) In the hopes that maybe some of the perpetrator of said pet peeves will read it and realize the error of their ways

My biggest pet peeve is picking up a player from the market and not one single attribute has been trained -AT ALL.

I mean, they had to look at their player page anyway, why not just (even randomly) have them practice SOMETHING?

I do understand your frustration, but why pick up a player who hasn't been trained?

I can't stand when people wait until there are just two seconds left in bidding and then submit a minimum bid. I don't get the point of drawing it out. I'll give you a scenario to illustrate.

Bidder 1 bids 10k
Bidder 2 (me) bids 500k
Bidder 1 bids 550k with 2 seconds left.
Bidder 2 bids 1.5 million
Bidder 1 bids 1.625 million
Bidder 2 bids 2.5 million

It should be pretty clear to bidder 1 at this point that there's a good chance bidder 2 is willing to bid much higher. Why not just enter an immediate counter of $3 million and volley back and forth until someone wins?

Bidder 1's approach does not serve him well either. Why? Because the player who is being bid on has now been sitting at the top of the page for the last 20 minutes and now bidders 3 and 4 notice him and swoop in with bids of 10 or 20 million and now both bidder 1 and 2 lose out on the player.

I really hate that crap. Just figure out what you're willing to pay for a player/staff and if you get into a bidding war, please bid in increments that actually make sense. It's going to save both bidders a great deal of time and money.

I think what he's saying is that a team will pull a player and put him directly on the market without even bothering to select a training regimen. The player is going to be on the market for at least 2 days, so you might as well train him on something for those two days as it doesn't cost anything. Also if he is trained and his attributes pop up a point, it might be just enough to get him to register on peoples' lists when they're using filters in order to comb the market.

Quality of Attributes, reverist. Plus, I'm much lower down the food chain than you are. I can't be as picky and wait for someone in ratio.

Oh it's for real. It died a few years ago. His name is Sam and he won the ugliest dog competition quite a few years in a row. You should google him for more/better pictures. He's certainly an interesting dog. A Chinese Crested.

I hate when I see some one who has highAQ, something like 75-85, and they have stats like Goal 11 Def 230 off 32 Sho 11 pass 25 tech 29 agr 30. I know it is vets doing this, to make more cash, but the poor person buying that player has no idea he has a worthless player until thos stats get fixed.

It is not that hard to train players to be all around decent. And I spit on all the vets who do this to take advantage of people who do not know the game well.

I hope everyone of you who do this chokes on a chicken bone. Abd yes AQ as an alone stat is pointless, it does let you know if the player has a chance to be decent.

Have to disagree with FiZ, I use the last 2nd bid all the time. it is called bidding for a reason.

Implying that I have a problem with bidding is ridiculous. Never did I say in any way that I have a problem with bidding.

It annoys me that the tactic is used, for the reasons I've outlined above. You're only screwing yourself by doing it. I know it's allowed and I'm not calling for the tactic to be banned, but it really doesn't make any sense.

Some of those stats that you've mentioned can be caused by things other than vets just trying to screw people out of cash.

If a team goes inactive, the training regimen stays the same for all of the players until the team relegates to the last league and the players automatically get auctioned off. It can take quite some time between the team going inactive and the player going on the market. The result is that the player is stuck training on one attribute for months.

I bought one player like this recently. Off 100 Sho 150 Tec 100

He's not a terrible player to start off, but not good enough for my lineup. He just earned a spot on the 4th line after I trained his Off to 150. Now I have to decide if I want to switch to Tec or if I'm better served by continuing to train Off.

Yes I admit some are for that reason, but most are not. I know this because i look at every manger of the player up for bid. And they show active, again it is a buyer beware,but still shoddy. We will not ever agree on the last min tatic,I hardly ever bid until the last 2 mins. This has served me well on several players.

I didn't say the last two minutes. I'm talking about people who wait until the last two SECONDS. If you still disagree with me then whatevs, but maybe you just misread my initial post. IDK.

Yeah I don't think it's right that managers do that, but it does teach new players a valuable lesson about the balance of attributes. I don't really care that much about how it screws the new guys. I care more about how it advantages those who take advantage of the system.
