Ah yes such a shame.
He looks like a beauty! Should make an amazing player for the junior NTs at least.

A lot of the the longevity difference can be made up by downplaying the technique and the shooting training.
Why don't we get players like that in 1.1?? I got a decent guy with Ronald Forsythe, but he's not nearly as good as that.
Dammit! I was supposed to finish top 8, but I couldn't secure a good enough Goals differential (it's a 3 way tie between 7th and 9th in points... shouldn't this have been determined by the number of straight up wins? Cuz i woulda won that!) and now I'm stuck battling it out in the bottom with NO energy left on my guys, to the point where playing the 21yo seems a better option than most veterans. So instead of 8th, I'm gonna be frickin 12th when this is all said and done (given I win the next game, which is not even a sure thing).
That's it. I'll be selling my 0/6 and possibly even 1/6 CL players at the end of this season. Ugh.

That's rough. It was crazy close between 7th to 9th.
While disappointing, I don't think you should panic and sell a ton of players. All you need to do is manage your energy more during the season. I think if you hadn't burnt your team out, you could have easily picked up a couple more wins the last part of the season.
I think if you stopped going H or VH so much, you'd have a better finish next season. Some games aren't worth chasing with H/VH for energy.

that's the thing though, I don't have a team that can contend, the only way i finish top 8 is to go all out during the season hoping for a few upsets (and this season I suffered from too many upsets the other way around). Most of my veterans are on the decline, so it won't be better next season. If I keep just gradually replacing them the way I have been, because the age spread is so vast, I'll never have a team with decent exp.
You were almost at 450 OTS at the start of the season. I think that’s good enough to compete. I think if you decided to not go above normal next season and conserved energy you’d be surprised.
As for the aging players, that is tough to deal with. I’ve been replacing a couple 0/6 players each season for a long time. I usually find players on the market to replace them, and have my 4th line be for players I’ve developed.

It helps the decision that I don't have the cash flow atm to pay for everyone either. I started letting guys go a while back this season. Those FA offers have made it impossible for me to browse the market for better players. Honestly, i,d almost be happy to drop back to 2.X for a season. The draft picks are better down there, anyway
Most of my "core" is at 45ish energy at this point, so yeah, they all suck. Pretty much.
I've already had to sell or let walk 3 veteran Ds (all 0/6 CL), 2 veteran Cs and 1 who was only 26yos but had a craptastic CL and was being gained on by another guy same age (I had an overload of Cs).
At this point, for wings, Morcinek is my highest OR player and will be an FA in a few days (I'm estimating him to go for upwards of 75M, I have about 120M on hand atm). He has CL left, so I may pay for him then sell him early next season 9after youth camps, perhaps) ?
I've also been hunting the market for a more viable LW than McLellan, who is at the end of his CL this season, but I can never be on at the deadline :/
I have a ton of 18-23yos, so there's not much of a point keeping all the 30+ players when I have a few 26-28yos who can also step in and will be better in 2 seasons' time.
It's just time to let the old crusty guys go, haha.

???? Hey, easy on the old crusty guys, eh! They....ah, they.....ah, I forgot what I was going to say!! Oh yeh, I never miss deadlines 'cause I dedicate a small portion of my pension to the "market agent". ????
Yeah that all sounds like good decisions. The free agent system of this game is really bad. It punishes teams in smaller countries because we make less since our player base is so low. Other teams can try and poach all the good players. And the fact that at 32 you have to pay offers every season is ridiculous.
I can’t believe they never changed it, and now it’ll never be changed.
Sounds like you’ll be setting yourself up for long term success making these changes though!
