Asunto: I.1

I've essentially been in 1.1 too long and will likely be getting passed by league 2 teams. Unfortunately, I'm in limbo, When I'm good and get lucky I finish 3rd (like season 4) and when I'm bad and unlucky (this season) I'll finish in the middle of the pack.

It becomes a situation where you need to adjust your goals. If I really wanted to compete, I'd get relegated and build a competitive team for the next few seasons. But instead I'll likely just try to stay up and make staying in league 1.1 my only real goal. It's unfortunate that the game is so flawed in this way, but what are you going to do?

You have to sell off your core, take that money and build, take those youth that you get and use the, falling down to league II and maybe even III. That's the only way to build your team up to be competitive, our only other option is to wait for leggs to forget to log in for a month.

His team will age I think but it'll still be a long time for the lag to close.

Relegation sucks.

You have to lose! Who wants to do that? You really want to go to 2.iv? how many nonames and 20 team strengths are there? Wouldnt that be Boring? Plus if you do get demoted how easy will it be to return when you want to?

OTR is a stat I pay no attention too, as it's outside of my direct control. I can't MAKE my team win. Aside from contracts what is it's purpose? NC ranking? Contracts are important but random. Money can come from players and the market if you have the time and inclination.

Seriously, if you can afford the loss of a single good player, you can make the difference between the worst and best GS and TV sponsor.

In both cases you have to step back in order to go ahead. The rewards for league one are better plus there's the PRESTIGE. Oh wait, no there's no prestige, sorry.

No one says you HAVE to do anything. You can do whatever you want, that's the beauty of it.

I agree, i ignore OTR, I ignore how much money I could make and worry about much money I do have.

But most importantly, above worrying about getting to I.1 or winning every game, i am having fun with this.

It's the little things about this game that set it apart I agree completely. Finding players on the market, tweaking lines, training, etc etc etc go on forever. That doesn't mean that they can't improve it by making moving up and the leagues more of a value so that there's something to work for, otherwise you have teams like Jackson etc etc that just quit.

True, i won't argue that point. Sorry, I get so tired of people who want to play the game only the "best way possible" be it here or like, World of Warcraft that only uses the best talents and gear and professions and then whines if they feel the "best" way isn't what they want.

So while I agree there is always room for improvement, i'm just trying to encourage people to realize there is more room tot he game and more fun to be had than worrying about OTR of all things and to keep playing, because without the people playing then I think the game would suck

The point of the game is to promote. How can you be considered the best if you do not compete with the best? Leggs started out at the same level as the rest of us. He has shown better decisions/managing than the rest of us......that's why he is atop the standings. He is a great example for the rest of us. He is competing against the rest of the WORLD and doing well. I consider it a challenge to stay in I.1 alone. I also expect to beat some of the best in this league. If I always wanted to win, I could always play chess with my 8 year old. What's the point? As a competitor,I want to now where I stack up against the best we have to offer. It only drives me to be better, try different things, etc. If I'm always winning.....why change anything? 1.I should have the best teams in the USA period! No excuses. We all will benefit from the tougher competition. Just my 2 cents.....peace!

No one here is talking Leggs down. I can't speak for everyone, but I'm really glad Leggs has done so well. His goalie and some of his players are helping our NT.

Nevertheless, I want to beat him eventually and I want to do everything I can right now to get to his level. If that means I'm sticking to 2.2 for another season so I can get more money and improve my facilities a bit more, then so be it. I'm already behind him in terms of players, money and arena/facilities. How do I catch up? This is my method. Others do it using the market. That's the beauty of this game.

I started with a week left in season 1 and was behind the curve the entire time. I agree with what you say about Leggs but ive not had the money to buy a goalie of that caliber and not had the fortune to pull one.

There is a lot more than just goalies much like chess and reading ahead or even better setting people up with fake trends (something I haven't had to do since frozen pond left for the I.1)

All that said, you can have your hubris, I'll take the path that I see best fits my plans.

I've tossed the idea back and forth on possibly demoting to gain strength. It didn't fit me and as it turns out I'm glad I didn't. Then again, I can totally understand why people could choose to stay down as a method of building/rebuilding. It is indeed a valid approach to it. Both ways of playing it have their potential gains and potential losses. It's up for the manager to balance them for their own team.

I may be shaded by my opinions on the subject, but it seems like that everyone who is staying down to build up their team, it's "one more season" every year. If you are worried about catching up you never will.
