So who's all in the NatCup?
I'm playing Boilermakers in round2

Ok, picked up my team a few weeks ago, but did nothing because I could not access the servers. Now with the new servers I have access and will start to manage my team. I need to get out of dead last in the league, not that there is anywhere to go since this is the lowest league level, but I want to be above the relegation line anyways as a matter of pride.
Hey DA. I saw your question about staffs in the Q&A thread. I assume this was about me and my bloated staff The main reason why I have so many is I'm lazy=) It's the same reason why I have 40 players when only 30 of them are worth a damn.
I accept most staff pulls and then ignore them if they aren't very good. I should probably fire some of them, but... I also pull some weird staff. If a pull has high OR (PPM's equivalent to HA's AI) he also has low Qs. Low OR gets me higher Qs. It's ass backwards, but it's happened several times so far. I keep the higher ORs as my main and hope the low OR/higher Q guys develop into something in time.

Some quick tips:
Seasonal energy plays a very big part in this game. Last season, I wasted a ton of energy to get from the bottom of the standings to 4th place. By the time the playoffs came around, my best players had around 80 energy. It cost me some games, so I ended up using much worse players from the bench who had 100 energy. The new guys helped us win the last two games in the consolation round. Play as many games as possible on Low, including all friendlies. This doesn't really matter to you this season, so you can do whatever you want.
Qualities fluctuate a lot. This isn't like HA where the single unscouted Q stays the same all season and can only be off by 15-20 points. I think the Qs changes every week in PPM. And they can be off by quite a lot. So don't spend too much money on the market until your HR is much better.
Unfortunately, you need 11 manager points to buy any new players. You get a point for every day you login. You only have 5 points right now. You're stuck with your original team for another week. Those first 11 days suck.
You should build your HR as much as possible. You will receive sponsor offers on the last 4 days of the season. One each day. The higher your HR department (and the marketing attribute of your Managers and your team's OTR and your league level), the better the sponsor offers you will get.I went from making 250K per week to 2.1M. My OTR at the time was around 110, HR level 4, league III and poor managers.
You shouldn't have any problems getting above the relegation line. Most of the teams in this league only log in once. I think we only have 7-8 active teams.

thanks for all of the info. Didn't help that when I signed up I couldn't get access to the servers so I ignored my team until yesterday when I received a reminder email.
Good luck today, DA. I just lost to the worst team in the league in HA, so anything's possible
Thanks I'll need all the luck I can get. At least all my lines are set now. We'll see how it goes.
Well that was pretty pathetic, I lost 8-0. Shots were pretty even and I dominated on faceoffs. You were up 4-0 after 2 periods when I threw my backup in and you scored 4 more on eight shots. What a monster goalie I have.
But looking at relative strength, the result was a moot point.

Your back-up made things look much worse than they were. I got to watch the game and your guys abused the hell out of us. At least two of my guys needed to be helped off the ice. One of my players knocked your goalie down and proceeded to get his ass kicked. He took a couple of shots and dropped to the ice, but that didn't stop your guy from throwing punches. Everyone else on the ice was fighting as well. I hope they add 5 minute majors. All of our best players would have been in the box
And you destroyed us in the face-off circle. I had to check a bunch of my other games to see if this was normal. It's not. Not even close. How did you do that? I thought my centers had decent technique (30-35), but I guess it's time to train that up a bit.

Oddly 2 of my centers are only TECH 19 and the third line is TECH 17, but I think more than tech figures in with faceoffs, probably aggression too.
