Interview with manager samsa

Interview with manager samsa

Gord007: Hi, please tell us something about yourself. What is your name, how old are you and where do you live?
Samsa: Hi, my name is Radek Tomšej, I am 26, currently living in the South of Moravia.

G: First I will ask some questions regarding PPM. Where does your nick and team name come from?
S: My nick comes from the high school where they called me šamša, but since accents are problematic in most of the manager games, I have a nick samsa. The team name is also from the past, when a club called Colligo Břeclav existed and played in division 2. The current hockey club in Břeclav does not use this name any more.

G: How do you like the game?
S: I like PPM very much and that is why I spend most of my free time on it.

G: Is there anything about the game that you don’t like? Or do you have any suggestions for changes?
S: It is too early to suggest any changes. PPM is not finalized yet and it is hard to tell if changes are necessary. Some things have already been modified and I think it is good for PPM that everybody can express their opinion about the game or contribute with their suggestions to improve it.

G: Let’s talk about the league. Which league you play in and how are you doing?
S: So far I am playing in the top division but after a few successful season there were some complication and now I will be battling in the relegation round to stay in the top division.

G: Have you played some other sport manager games? How is PPM compared to them?
S: I have played or tried many sport manager games, mostly football games. I have played two hockey managers. I think PPM ranks as the best, because it is the most sophisticated and though-out manager of them all. There are a lot of small details that make PPM that much more interesting and fun. Also the graphical side of PPM is among the best. It is probably the best graphically from those which I have played.

G: What is your opinion about this project? Can it be successful?
S: I think the answer to this question is obvious from the fact that I am a member of the Czech national support team. If I had not thought that this project has a perspective, I wouldn’t have spent so much free time on it. It can certainly be successful and I hope it will be. I will do my best to help achieve it, as well as all the other people working on PPM.

G: Apart from other things, you are a member of the Czech national support team. How did you get to this position?
S: With a lot of luck and by chance. One of my very good friends brought me to PPM, who also helped me get into the few selected people to test the game during the Alpha version. Once I have tried the game I wanted to become a part of the testing team, but I was offered a chance to become a member of the national support team for Czech Republic and so I accepted it. It was a very prestigious offer for me and I also wanted to help this project.

G: What is your main responsibility?
S: At first mainly the translations of texts from Slovak into Czech, which is not as easy as it looks. Every Czech text in PPM was first in Slovak (including the guide, FAQ,...), so it needed to be translated. It is hundreds of texts and phrases. Fortunately there is more people looking after this, so I am not the only one who is doing it. I also send out emails to help managers enter the registration codes. Another important responsibility is the advertising and currently looking for potential sponsors for PPM. This is also done by more people. In the beginnings I used to help in the forums and eventually help solve some problems at PPM. Recently the helpers have taken over the job of answering the questions. However this doesn’t mean that I have stopped attending the forums.

G: Do you do any sport actively?
S: I am trying to play some football but only in the lowest leagues. There is not much time left for practices. :)

G: Do you attend hockey or football games sometimes? What is your favorite team?
S: I used to attend football games quite often, sometimes even hockey games. But not much in recent times. I am a fan of Brno in football and Znojmo in hockey. None of them is doing very well at the moment.:(

G: Thanks for the interview.
