I get it that the owners have to generate revenue, but aren't the pro pack features a little excessive? I mean I now can only have one line up... So all my friendlies I am risking my best players, and its playoff time.
No wonder 13 out of 20 teams folded in my league. I'll probably follow their example after the finish of the playoffs, no matter the result.

I can understand what you mean as far as the pro pack price goes. However, if you really enjoy the game it is definitely worth it. Analysis of opponents and the automatic practice feature basically makes your team run for you so that you can check in periodically and not spend a bunch of tedious time with things. I honestly think it is worth the money, but that's just my opinion.
It would be nice to have 2 line up options, and then with a pro pack you get multiple, but unfortunately thats not how the devs see it. Ah well looks like i will just have to change line up daily, not that big of an inconvenience.
Its certainly a fun game, and I enjoyed it a lot to this point. You are right about $25 not being much for three months. I am wondering if a prepaid visa credit card would work for purchasing a pro pack. Since its out of the country (USA) i doubt it will, but its worth a try.
From what i've seen, there are very few hockey manager games out there, all of them that i came across are not free. Hopefully I can find a way to purchase a pro pack (Paypal at this moment is not an option for me unfortunately.)

You can have multiple lineups without a ProPack. Sort of. At the bottom of your lineup page is a drop down menu. You can choose to use any lineups that's you've used in the last 7 days.
never knew that. thanks. last season i just changed lineups daily between league and friendlies, this year i just decided to take a gamble since i didn't want to change all the time.
those are about the only real advantages. Friendly not that much as one can buy just a week pack and setup all the friendlies.
So the only advantage is the training. but if one is very active not that much need neither.
I am not against PRO, in fact i am in favor. But i wish we would have some real true advantage by spending some money.
As for example:
1. Pay for one time scout: Your Scout trainer goes in a one time mission and finds one player. that is: you get a immediate player in your academy.
2. Pay your scout trainer extra-time. Your Scouting trainer works harder and this week will find better quality players in your academy.
3. Buy a Training Camp: Send your players to camp for a week and training increases 1 level worth of training facility
4. Boost your team: Pay extra money for the next incoming match and have your team work 10% harder.
I mean.. there are several other possible ideas that would make the money more well spent.
just named a few ideas.

things i didnt mention as example but id more definitely buy (if not too much) would be season boosts. like have players training 10% faster. 10% better match performances for the season; 30% better chances to get quality players every week and so on ..
I played RPG game where there were 15 days boosting for attacks, defense and etc and i have always paid them.

PPM will never allow you to pay for an in game advantage. That would pretty much make this a pay to win game and most non-paying members would quit. Then the paying members would get bored and leave as well.
Yeah most of online games give you in game advantages when you spend money. This is why this game is unique in someway. I played a lot of online games, and usually all of them require money to succeed.
The only online browser games I've played is this and HockeyArena. Neither one allow pay to win. I understand paying to support the product, but paying to win is quite sad.
not really paying to win. not talking about mafia wars or stuff like that. game i played was grepolis for over a year. many people plays for over 2 years. it does not help that much when you are advanced in the game, but could help the beginners. very cheap money for long term benefit.
charging $2 for example for a season (112 freaking days) to have some boosting is not pay to win. it is pay to support the site and get some in return.
concept of pay to win is if one is allowed to continuously spend money to get advantage in the game.
i think people quit here because the perception it will be "impossible" to beat those teams. and the perception is true.
think about it. I started at the end of season 7. many of you guys started from season 1/2. those already have stadium and facilities developed. how can a new manager catch up???
players with 400 OR managers used to sell for tons of money in the past now are worth pennies.
the only other thing i can see to help the game is to have lower divisions managers to be the ones that get better quality players so at least they can sell and cash some money.
I play this game cause i love statistics. I started playing Championship Manager since 1993.
this game lacks on statistics. On soccer for example, no stats on tackles, heads and so on ...
paying $15 or so per season/game is a lot to just support for not much advantage.
