People were against it because they all hit the market at once and a select few who were on got tons of players for really cheap.

They could then re-sell those players for over 10x what they paid for them.

Yeah, I remember a great firesale a couple seasons ago where I got 3 players at huge undervalue who are now the backbone of my franchise. Good times...

I can understand not being happy about the firesales, but why don't the players who meet the OR criteria go up on the market when their contracts expire?

Except no one knew about it. And it was a TON of teams all going up at the same time.

It was strange to me then that all these players were on the market at once and it still seems strange. But I don't understand why the players don't hit the market when their contracts expire.

Why should only div. I teams who can afford NT players be able to poach off the defunct teams? The rich get richer...

I don't think any players from defunct teams should hit the market.
But people complained about losing NT talent.

They were going for sale for 7 days, so it's not like it was a secret, and they weren't all being sold at once, so I disagree with the "no one knew about it" it was staggered and the sales were long.

But that was then, it's past, just my opinion.

Most manager will only screen upcoming sales. Problems occured for some timezones when players were sold in the middle of the night in Europe and late evening in North America. Worse, there are very few managers online at that time and the ones awake had no competitions in the latest minutes of bids. And for some teams, it was not 1 player on the market but a bunch of them. Since there is a real life out there and some of us need to sleep from time to time, I think this is a very good thing these players are not on the market anymore.

I agree. Even though I was one of the guys who landed 26 players at an extreme discount. In the end, I didn't make much money as an excess player fee and increased salaries killed my income in the end. But what happened I don't think was best for the game.

I ended up with 15 of those players, but it felt like cheating. And it cheapened all of the work I put into my team up until that point. So I fired 10 of them immediately. I wanted to fire them all, but I didn't want to lose any money on the deal. I'll be happy if I get all the money back (costs + salaries) when I sell them. I'm assuming I'll make some profit out of the deal, but it won't be anywhere close to what I could have gotten for all 15 of them. I can live with that.

Ya I made hardly anything. Tops a mil on a player. It also jumped my sale fee to 50% where it's been stuck for eons now. Really screwed me over to be frank. Of those 27 players I think only a couple I kept for my team... and even of those they have yet to play a game.

I have one of them playing right now. He was the 4th C until the 3rd C got hurt. Moved him to 3rd and left him there because I'm lazy. I've just ignored the other four. It's easier to not think of them
