I don't think that the game engine is as complicated as we think it is.
Ok thanks for the confirmation. The guide says "Defence: This attribute is used by all the players to stop the opponents from scoring by not letting them create scoring chances. It is used mainly by defensemen but it is also useful for forwards who need it in order to contribute to the defensive play of the team." so I wondered how it worked... might help a little bit if added to the player, but doesn't seem like a lot.
Just know that if your def skill is higher than off, the player is considered a defenseman and you can be penalized for playing out of position.
+1 for the thought that we give the engine too much credit with regards to complexity.
Well this is maybe where I am failing 
Maybe not because I don't train it either and my team is on par with canucks.
If I wait to pull my prospects when the new season starts instead of tonight will they get pulled at 15 or 16?
Question? ive been playing fro about a month and my team strenght is 55.75. Ive noticed that new teams in my league have a higher team strength that me bt quite a bit. My opp on the 19th has 3 days manager exp but a team strength of 131.29. have i done something wrong in building my team... Thanks
I believe they get pulled automatically for you at the turn of the season. I learned that one when I wasted a great pull and not having the right sporting directors in. 200 OR for a kid with an average of 84Q. What a waste.
kelly are you looking at Overall Team Strength? or Overall Team Rating? Two very different things 
Overall team rating is not strength. It is a number representing best how many games you've won over the course of time. Teams are assigned randomly. Win a few games you'll make up that difference in no time
