Been trying a little experiment with SA pulls. Interesting early results.

Last 2 pulls 261, 265, 258 with level 9 SA and decent staff. Now the previous 3-4 pulls nothing but trash and barely a guy over 200OR in the lot. Scotts been having the same issue as have most. Here's what I'm trying and why.

I've stopped upgrading my SA from the start of the season. I won't be upgrading to 10 til there are 55 days left in the season. I believe that's how long it takes to go from 9 to 10. As you can see I'm simply trying to get the best possible pulls the first part of the season to take advantage of CL and training. I have found that you pull much poorer players in general with SA upgrading than when it is not.

I got some good pulls on SA 5 when not upgrading. Then did a spurt to 9 with 1 break in the middle. Only during the non upgrade period did I pull OK. Noticed the same thing with HR and staff also. You can still pull a big guy thanks to random but consistant decent players seem to come from non upgrading SA pulls. Atleast that's my observation anyway.

Any thoughts?

PS ... I'm still waiting for a goalie pull!! 1 guy in 3 plus seasons is ridiculous!!!

I was actually wondering about that, Stan. Mine is currently under construction... I think I'm still going to be building for 1-2 more pulls, so we can definitely use my experiences as more data to your theory.

Mine was mid-upgrade (to lvl 5). I pulled my best prospect yet. His OR is tops among Canadians on my team.

How good is "best prospect" PMullings? It'd be nice to pull some data on exceptions to stan's theory.

Keep in mind it's relative first off. But second you can get a monster pull on random anytime. I'd pigeon hole level 9 pulls not upgrading as being best at 250-265 per pull. That meens I'd expect 1 player between those 2 numbers(OR) 9 pulls out of 10. When I was sitting at level 5 for 1/2 a season remarkably I would get a 210 to 220 pull virtually every 2 weeks. Seems the average might be about 10 points of OR improvement per level of SA. Might even be 12-15 but kind of think it's around 10. Purely a guess mind you.

Ketch also I'm getting to 10 this season but I'm upgrading the second 1/2 making sure it finishes the last day of the season so I'm ready to pull after the update 1st day of season 5.

Still doesn't help my biggest issue with SA which is players position. I'm loaded with forwards and got 4 more offered today. No tenders and need defensemen for future seasons on the right side. Wish you could order up a little something on position.

But your theory is interesting, i don't have any data on that, but i feel like i didn't pull a very good player for a long time as i am always upgrading my SA.

I'm actually Lvl 7, building lvl 8. And yesterday my pulls were under 200or for the 4 players. 3 between 180-195, and one around 160.

I think that is a little ambitious. Look at the build time. To get to level 10 from 9 is 55 days. Another 40something or whatever it is from 8 to 9... ambitious... potentially do-able though.

It's not that much of a difference. But generally..the OR is lower and whatnot. But that's at lower levels of SA!

That is an interesting experiment but I don't believe it is true. I don't have an exact data with my pulls since I am upgrading all the time now I am upgrading to level 11. I didn't get any star player yet. I mean I got couple where I can say they are ok but I got them like 2-3 level back so I am expecting better players now with level 10-11. In my experience I got better player with level 7-8. I don't expect a star player every time but at least a player who I can train a bit and sell for a buck or two, all I get now is junk in my opinion for level 10 SA. Today I got one with OR 206 and he is the best for like a season or so.

The highest I ever got was 240 (not sure exactly) But the average seems around 160-180. SOmetimes I get as low as 120

Ambitious and possible.. I have a road map for each season as we come up on it.. I won't finish 10s, but they will be started

Strong base qualities (relative to my team), and very strong primary avQ. This despite my SA being mid-upgrade (4->5).
