surely your not suggesting that div2 should get the same winnings as div1

Usually the whole point is to promote competition and give people a reason to want to win, that wouldnt.

No, i'm not suggesting that at all.

I agree, finishing 1/2 way thought Div 1 SHOULD be worth more than finishing 1st in Div 2... but it's clearly not.

So in that logic, if finishing 1st in Div 2 is worth more than being lower in div 1, then div 2 winnings should be worth more than they are.

But this game does not seem to be based on logic.

In my situation for example... finishing top in div 2 IS worth more than finishing lower in div 1. That's wrong... at least I believe it's wrong.

I just hope they take the time and get soccer right. It might be too late for hockey.

For this season you got your sponsor offer based on the facts that you started current season in div1 and won div2. Unlike many people seem to think, league level and the final position in last season play a huge role. If you hadn't promoted from div2, your offer would have been clearly smaller. Ie. the system takes into account the division where you will play when sponsors pay you their money.

So in your situation the details behind offers between this season and next season are these:

This season: Division1, past years success: 1st in II, OTR 220
Next season: Division1, past years success: 11th in I, OTR 250

You miss my point. While I'm not overly happy with my offer, i will live with it. The issue is with the entire sponsor system, and in more detail the OTR system and the fact that teams who are already far stronger than the average user are getting such large sponsor offers that the average user will never ever catch them or compete with them.

I get that in a season or 2 anybody could be at their OTR and get that type of sponsor offer, but by then they'll be so far ahead and have even more, the gap just widens again.

Then, there is that much debatable issue where it is better to finish high in Div 2 than to finish mid Div 1... which in itself fairly ludicrous.

So you think a team who gets promoted to 1st division should have clearly worse sponsor than the mid table team who already is there?

I think the team already in Div 1 has established themselves as a team who can not only get to that level, but stay there, whereas the div 2 team, while earning promotion is an unknown quantity.

So while i can not answer yes or no to your question, there is valid argument each way.

Ok, In my opinion the system should encourage teams to promote into higher division and the current system is doing exactly that. The best div2 teams who get promoted to 1st div get much more than the best who don't manage to promote.

Yes, it does encourage teams to promote.

However it also favours those teams who already dominate the upper leagues so those teams who just promoted will end up lower down in the standings and get worse sponsor deals than they did before promoting.

Which in the end discourages people to promote and has them wondering why bother when they need a near miracle to do well in the upper leagues.

This is untrue in the US as far as the information I have goes.

I was going to stay out of this, but I also know that a coach who did not promote because he lost in semi-finals got a higher offer than I did and I promoted.

Oh wow... really? That's questionable.

well he does have a higher OTR. We both promoted from 3 last season. He finished 3rd while I finished 2nd and promoted.

and note, I'm not complaining about this. As I stated he has a higher OTR, I'm just contributing the information to the discussion because of what was previously stated.
