I believe it was stated a long time ago that a player does not actually leave the ice, the game engine just compensates the team on the PP as if there were 4 players on the ice.

i'm sure vlady will correct us both, but if i remember correctly the game engine is separate from the commentary engine. And the player comes off in the game engine, but there is sometimes a glitch in the commentary where it links to the wrong player. However the commentary is a reflection of the actual play not the cause so the engine is right, the commentary is unimportant.
For example, i don't recall a player with a penalty scoring a SH goal for example which would be an important mistake.

You are right. The actions use special tags targeting a position (for example Left Defense). If this player is on penalty box you have the error. Last time was fixed changing "Left Defense" to "Defense"...

and how about teamstrength ? isn't international cup match a cup match, so shouldn't my teamstrength be up to date ?

Are you suggesting as a nat team manager you should get OTR when the nat team wins? I'm not getting your issue I don't think. Or are you refering to stars and the team info page not updating stars after nat cup matches on Tuesdays. Not sure where your issue is. Please clarify.
He's refferring to the international cup matches on thursday I think.
What he's saying is that while the rest of us only get our team strength updated Monday wednesday, and friday, those who compete is the elite games should get more frequent updates.
kinda yes. the matches on thirsdays are official cupgames as well. even very important ones. and we cant see our teamstrength of those matches. pretty unlogic if you ask me...
