I just pulled a 5 star goaltender. I've gotten good players before, but I think they have usually been 4-4.5 stars. His OR is mediocre at about 380, though he should hit at least 500 OR by next season, which is still pretty good. He also has 5/6 CL. Even so, I'm optimistic.

I can't seem to even be able to give away my manager with 100 marketing and mostly untrained scouting. I failed to find a buyer yet again, this time for the market minimum.

Yeah, it's a bad time of the season to sell managers since no one wants to pay him 80 days of salary while he's useless.

I dont even think i will carry managers anymore. a 100 Manager will cost 10M+ per season. I think its cheaper to buy some that will end contract soon after free agency

Actually, training staff up from scratch is a waste of money when you can buy near-fully-trained staff for 10k when your current guys retire. Only managers in the one month or so leading up to sponsor signing are the exception.

I used to buy managers before sponsors and then dump them after, but enough other people started doing it as well that their price rose such that it wasn't worth the trouble, especially now that you can train their scouting up to 40-60 and get better draft scouting without much salary increase.

i figured it out and dumped my entire staff leaving only cheap ones, for now. Cause i am trying to reduce staff cost too since I am just building up players and facilities

Yeah, that's a smart move. High level staff don't pay off until you have high level facilities for them to work in.

My rough rule of thumb for how high I train staff is (facility level - 5) x 10 per attribute for the head, and 10-20 less than that for the assistant. So, for example, I'd stop at 80 with a level 13 facility. I stop at lower level for less useful staff attributes, like scouting and both physician attributes. Custodians also get calculated to figure out the maximum savings giving my current facilities and arena.

One other little trick that you might already know, is when you have a staff member on his final contract, train him as much as you want until he retires since you won't have to pay the increased salary.

although i know the trick, what i was doing was to train them non-stop and when they get too high i sell and use the reserve one. that was causing way too much salary cause even the reserve salary isnt too low. so id sell them/dump before they actually retire.

problem of managing staff salary is that it is one more thing to manually do (non Pro) and I already have hard time to keep up with player's training.

I will take a look at your hint cause it should not be too much time consuming to manage staff as id likely need to do once a season only and check one or two times in the season for the ones that are still under training.

According to your rule, my coaches are right on the spot .

My sports director a bit higher (4 points higher) but it is supposed to be that way as I am counting on draft and player pulls as an advantage of being on D3.

My Physiotherapists and Managers are twice as low.

My custodians are super high, being 5x higher than the recommendation

My Physicians are also too high. 4x higher. I was keeping then high as i didn't want to have any high prospect injury


I usually look at staff and player salaries and get nervous when i am paying more staff than players.

for soccer, staff represents 25% of the player+staff expenses.
for hockey, staff is 65% of the expenses. Part is because my team is mainly youngsters.

Hint will be good served on handball as I know i am spending too much on staff: 60%
