The People Have Spoken: PPM Managers' Predictions for NHL Round 1 Playoff Action

The People Have Spoken: PPM Managers' Predictions for NHL Round 1 Playoff Action

Once again I decided to run a playoff prediction pool (if you missed it keep your eyes peeled in a couple weeks as I'll run another one for the conference semi-finals) and thought I'd share with you stats on the predictions made by the 78 submitted entries.

Western Conference

1 - Chicago vs. 8 - Minnesota
Predicted Winner: 100% Chicago
Average Series Length: 4.87

2 - Anaheim vs. 7 - Detroit
Predicted Winner: 58.97% Anaheim
Average Series Length: 6.10

3 - Vancouver vs. 6 - San Jose
Predicted Winner: 65.38% Vancouver
Average Series Length: 6.15

4 - St. Louis vs. 5 - Los Angeles
Predicted Winner: 67.95% Los Angeles
Average Series Length: 5.90

Eastern Conference

1 - Pittsburgh vs. 8 - New York (Islanders)
Predicted Winner: 98.72% Pittsburgh
Average Series Length: 4.68

2 - Montreal vs. 7 - Ottawa
Predicted Winner: 62.82% Montreal
Average Series Length: 6.04

3 - Washington vs. 6 - New York (Rangers)
Predicted Winner: 52.56% Washington
Average Series Length: 6.03

4 - Boston vs. 5 - Toronto
Predicted Winner: 83.33% Boston
Average Series Length: 5.59

The people have spoken! No surprise Chicago and Pittsburgh were the most lopsided predictions while the Washington-New York (Rangers) series was predicted the most even. The shortest predicted series was Pittsburgh-New York (Islanders) while the one predicted to wear on the fans the most going 6.15 games is the Vancouver-San Jose series. We shall see how the masses fair. Keep your ear open for the next round of the pool in a couple weeks' time.

Good luck to all who entered, and more importantly, good luck to the Canucks ;)
