i had a big conversation about it, with Max like 2 weeks ago, he is more on your side building building building but from my point of view, it'S better to buy players but good one with a lot of experience, a player with 120 attacck 90 on shot 60 pass, tech and agg will be a dominant player in our league, 80-60-40 will a good third line or 4th line, my best player never came from my academy always from Slovakia and country that are way before us in the game. Academy is a lotery, so if you want to invest in it it'S Casino Royale time, with transfert you can get what you want when you want, and with experience.
Choose the way you wanna play, because you'lll be able to get 15 million soon to invest in your team. if you get 3 or million per weeks , that meen you'll get near 20 million, that'S a full balance line with players over 350 TC and experience they will help you a lot on a short time or you can get building that will influence your team a little on a long therme
from what i see in my economy stats i've put 33% of my money on players from transfert, 33% on my team for salary and everthing and 33% on buildings.
It's your choice the secret is balance like in real life.

I agree with you Alaskoop that short term, it will help you succeed in a higher league and thus help you get more money which you can invest in better facilities, etc. For someone who is promoting or is about to promote, you're probably right and you've proven it by making the playoffs in your first season in III.2.
In the Rokkers' case, the team will most likely relegate and it might be a good thing for them too. Rokkers never dominated IV.8, he started close to the beginning of the season and did very well ending the season in 4th place. He never had that season to build massive OTR, get his players ready, etc.
Since he'll more likely then not relegate, buying older players is not that important. His team will still dominate league IV without it.
Your strat is good, it's just a case of a different situation.

I sorta agree with the two of you as well, just have a look through my roster, most of my players are foreign. What I did when I was in IV.5 was went out and bought some young players, most of these players are still on my roster, and I plan on getting a good 4 seasons out of them while I build up my facilities. Market players have been essential in letting me pick and choose only the players with the highest qualities that come out of my academy.
However, I'm with Chinook in that this is a bit different of a situation. There isn't too much you're going to be able to do to salvage this season, you can buy players, but they would have to be REALLY good, and therefore very expensive, which will set back your facilities upgrades significantly. This is why I suggested selling off your older players with low q's. You might as well try to get the next level of your facilities started, as obviously the time it takes gets longer and longer with each level, then while you are waiting for them to be constructed maybe you can save some money, and when the time is right, spend half on the market, and save half for your next upgrades.
I highly recommend buying younger players though, it makes more sense financially in that if you purchase an old player that is 400 OR, not only will everyone with better training facilities' players pass him soon anyway (especially in this league, where the average player rating is climbing faster and faster), it is likely that his value will depreciate due to career longevity. If you went out and purchased a player that was 325 OR and had an AvQ of 75% or higher, that player is going to be worth significantly more on the open market in 2 seasons time. If you are looking for a player with experience, maybe pick up an 18 or 19 year old with some mid-level experience as opposed to a 22-25 year old player with a lot.
Also, don't undervalue chemistry. From my understanding of the game a player with 100% chemistry gains an approximate 30% bonus on all stats (with a player at 50% chemistry gaining about a 15% bonus, and so on...). So if you have a player who's stats are 100-50-50 with 100% chemistry that player is approximately equal to a player with stats 130-65-65 with 0% chemistry (these figures may not be entirely accurate, but its something along these lines) This is the reason I suggested getting some chemistry building amongst some of the players you think will be on your roster next season.
A lot of people might disagree, but I think ultimately you'll want to have a lot of players from your sports academy on your roster, then when you have some glaring holes in your roster, like alaskoop says, the market is a great way to fill your specific need.
I suppose there are many ways to go about it, and each one of us will do it slightly differently. You can't really say any one of these ideas is right or wrong, but hopefully they'll give you some ideas on a way to go. Like I say, good luck. Don't look at the losses this season, this league is absurdly difficult. Instead look at how your team is improving each game, make necessary adjustments, and come out swinging next season. (sorry this was so long)

Or do what I did, look for a team that appears to be headed in the right direction, and sort of model your team off them. I modeled my franchise off the Rangers for my first two seasons after I watched them dominate IV.5 in my 1st season. It gave me a great start to the game, while learning how to personalize my team along the way. Thanks by the way fed...
Perhaps you shouldnt listen to me though, I think we had a tie game didnt we!? ;D

Thanks for the advice guys. It gets a little frustrating losing the way I am time and time again. Its good to know im going about my facilities the correct way, it was kind of a grey area for me, this is my first full season after all.
I agree with you Chinook it would have been best had I not won my promotion round and stayed down in IV.5 Oh well I am learning alot from watching how you guys play anyhow.
I dont think I will be bringing in any older talent this year, in fact I may try and purge my team of some of my older more established players so I can advance my facilities even further.

watch out with selling players, you wont get a lot from them, don't forget to get your money from the bank everytime you can, it helps a lot. Like i said you should get near 15 million fro the bank so wait till then and make your move after.

Congrats for your win! Your goalie was hot, mine not that hot, you deserve the win.
i also smelled something funny in the air, when you were outshooting me 10-1 and i was winning 1-0. I think you deserved a better outcome, but I'll take the win.
