Vinnai and Cowan, the two highest-rated canadian U18 players have held on to their 6/6 longevity. They will benefit from the full 4 seasons of 6/6 development. It bodes well for their future (and my team's).

PS. You may want to look at Borges for another LD that should fit nicely in this squad.

I'd point you out to Solomon Knowles as well for an option on wing.

Steve Chapman
Is a pretty good center prospect (with a bit of a defensive upside)

Brodie Earl and Brodie Earl
are pretty OK UDs

and Ed Boertin is a decent RW

If you're need a bit more depth on D,
Mickey Clayton might fill in a role. Highish shooting, UD, decent exp. 915 OR at 18 isn't anything to write home about, but he does have almost 20exp.

I don't think Grégoire, Falconbridge, Dumont, Finch or Louks are anything to write home about, tho.

Thanks for the reminder!! Line-up is done.....as always! Don't think I have ever missed one, in any of the four sports! Both Brodhagen and Brammer are on the cuts list. Brammer would never have been on the team if there was any other second goalie available at the time! Cuts and adds will be done Sunday when georgejeanne gets back from an emergency delivery to Nowwhereville which is 3 hours due north of Kapuskasing where the road stops, and a full 2 hours north of cell service, unless you have a satellite phone. The company is paying a HEFTY sum to get the product there!

He looks like a nice player. Great CL, solid AVG Q. He is definitely a keeper. OV isn't that high though. It depends on the position he plays and whether the team is deep at this position. I will let the GM and AGM give the official answer.

Not sure who you messaged. Assuming it was "georgejeanne" who has been out on the road in the boonies a lot lately, which is why I take care of most of the day-to-day stuff. Wayne Clayton is a very good player with good numbers in all the right places; however he ranked as the number 13 available U18 winger. We only use 8 wingers on the U18 team, 4 left, 4 right. There is usually enough really good U17 to make up the fifth line, because they are on a par with what would be the fifth line of 18 yr old players. (you can only take 5 lines plus 3 goalies to the World Championships). Training 50 18 year old players would be a colossal misuse of training opportunities. Our general format for the U18 team is to have four lines of 18 yr old + 3 goalies, three lines of 17 yr old + 2 goalies, and one line of 16 yr old + 1 goalie. This totals 46 players with the other 4 being discretionary picks. Using the younger players in the friendly games each season, allows us to increase their training, chemistry, and experience for the following season so they are not starting out from zero in these areas. The U18 players then already have decent numbers in these areas, so they can be less fatigued going into the tournament. It is a solid plan that delivers consistently good results despite the fact that we have far fewer teams in Canada than some of the countries who have a lower world ranking!! If you really want to find out where any player stands on the national scene, compare his numbers to the players on the national team who are currently playing his position! Most managers are not aware of how really good a player needs to be to play on a national team!
Keep up the good training, and give your players as much experience as you can to give them the best shot at making the national team!

Yes, I messaged the manager, I should have double-crossed him to you.
I understand your arguments, on the usefulness and long-term training with u17s and u16s to prepare the u18s

Train players for the NT, I'm starting to do it a lot and often, in many countries like France necessarily . But each NT manager has his methods and criteria, hence my posts .

On the other hand, my questioning arises more on direct competition. As you say, you take the best, but I'm surprised to see Clayton 13th and outside NT when in the list of U18s selected there are less strong players according to my criteria in the same position. A simple example, Gord Addison:

Addison at 87.5% qtu, clayton 88.25.
Beyond this simple figure, Addison's Shooting quality really penalizes him I think.
The same Addison has a CL of 5/6; clayton always 6/6.
Without NT, Clayton already has more experience than Addison.
When at the TCu, Addison seems to be ahead by a few points, but surely due to his less trained shooting. If we add ATT/TIR/TEC/AGR, the difference is 11, Addison being in camp. (and if necessary, I am open to modifying the balance between these stats).
I see the same differences with McLaren by exemple,
I am also in favor of continuity between u18, u20 and senior. and on this side, for me (I repeat, it's just my opinion ) a CL6/6 player at 18 shows an undeniable criterion to go far, but without the training and XP contribution from the u18s, that going to be hard to keep up with the competition.

Of course I haven't watched all the wingers in your NT and I think the best are well above Clayton, so I wonder how to improve these training for the future

A guy who is still 6/6 at 18 will most likely go on to a good career. With a high AVG Q, it is even better.
