Here's the thing:

With "The big refferal campaign" I'm recruiting mostly Slovenians from slovenian websites, but I also visit foreign sites (less often, because it is hard to find suitable site for posting). So far I've managed to recruit one American, but he is unfortunately inactive.

So, my q is: if I manage to recruit someone from U.S., is anybody prepared to tutor him/her? Because I have too much work with tutoring "our" managers.

As I said it is hard to find good site, where you're not considered as spamer. I posted a few comments on hockey forums, lets see what that brings.

@Ziggy, dont mind me asking, is that your real age?

@Shevzor, pay me if your community has benefit of my refferal. That it'd be fair I suggest, that my refferal get lets say 11 exp like in ongoing campaign, or expresses to a tutor that he is interested in game and will play it for a (long) period of time. Honestly, I think its not fair to bring you 100 managers with one login, and get 200 credits for that. It wouldn't feel right.

I would like to apologize in advance for the length of this post. It seems three beers is now more than enough to give me quite a good buzz and that's when my thoughts fly. And evidently so do the parenthesis (you'll see).

Late to the thread, as usual.

I have loved this game from the start and would certainly like to see it continue to grow. I don't have much to offer in the way of marketing support (I don't have much web-presence or community presence for that matter) though I do continue to tell people about it. Problem is that this is very much a niche game so interest is low. Living in the market I do doesn't help (Balto, MD) either. Interest in hockey (and soccer) around here is so low we,ve had three minor league teams fold just in my lifetime.

I would though, like to maybe help w/ a suggestion:

What about a page (facebook or otherwise) that followed a team from their inception. A page that had a journal of sorts so you could follow the thought pattern of the owner. The why's of his/her actions, the reflections on past actions, random thoughts, etc.

The thing that helped me the most when I first started (though, I still feel "new" most of the time) was reading through the forums (Which I REALLY wish they would make searchable). I am not a number cruncher (food and labor costs tough enough). I like to shoot from the hip, operate off the cuff, follow my guts (or whatever colloquialism you prefer) so, reading about others' discoveries and insights went a LONG way in helping me to understand the game and sort out a plan of action. I think that this would help to retain a few more people.

Maybe even a best move/worst move section of the page for all owners to contribute to. SO we can all share the joy/misery.

I also think that setting up some credit tournaments for the rookie/beginner/amateur set would help to hold some interest. The possibility of winning ANY credits when new is nigh impossible. Just one or two pro/vet/experts entering pretty much steals the pot. Give guys a chance to earn some PROpack credits and I think their enjoyment of the game will be greater and more happy managers means more kool-aid vendors (Is that analogy in poor taste? [no pun intended, I swear]).

The idea of a mentor is also a good (nee(sp?), great) one. It was opivy, actually, that answered my questions (quite well, i must add. I didn't follow all your advice (I am paying WAY too much for staff.) but I did/do appreciate it. I wish that I had taken better advantage of it early on as far as asking more questions but, like I tell my crew, they are more than welcome to learn the hard way if they need to.

Speaking of opivy, I agree that we need to find "new" manager type game players. This is MY first one ever. I love fantasy hockey and have been doing that since I got lucky and drafted Forsberg as a rookie. But I had no idea that these types of games even existed (Outside of console game franchise play.) I never thought to look for them. All this time I could have been playing this or HA or the whole myriad that must be out there. I swear, sometimes I'm dumber than a bag of hammers.

Alright, this post is probably longer than the sum of ALL my past posts so I will wrap it up.

Shevzor, I am sure that I am not alone in my appreciation for anyone that will donate their time (The one thing in the world you can NEVER get back) and energy into promoting this game. I would most certainly like to be able to beat more than mostly no-names.

HELP!!! I'm new to the game, playing hockey and I didn't realize that player and staff salaries are paid in full daily!! I thought what their Salary was was divided into equal payments throughout the year and the salary was their season salary. I went out and purchased 5 high priced stafff members on the market and have a weekly expense ratio of 3,500,000 now. I have invested alot of time and money into this team and don't want to lose it because I thought a Salary was paid over the coarse of a season not a day. The game won't let me put the staff on the market now. What should I do??? please somebody e-mail me with some advice.

Fire them. You will have to pay half of their remaining contract, but it's worth it in the long run if it doesn't bankrupt you;)
