Please DO NOT consider ANYTHING I say as criticism !!
Merely an expression of my opinion which I am assuming has not become politically incorrect in this country.... yet.
My intention has NEVER been to scare people away from the game !! I FULLY realise that everyone may not share my enthusiasm for my opinions, and that sometimes they may provoke more than thought. You are all free to disagree often and vehemently. My only intention always is to improve my understanding of the game.
I fall into that 20% of people whose first question is always "why".
Why did this work?
Why didn't this work?
Why do so many people think that just because they made all the right choices that a good reult is guaranteed?
None of my observations were directed at anyone, especially you who have been most helpful in educating me in this game.
Also, I have no interest in judging the quality of ANY manager....the game will do that.

Understood. Fair warning, the answer to many of those why questions is not what you think. PPM's game engine is very simple. I've asked many MANY questions and the answer is always more simple than expected (e.g. goals are assigned in each period and assigned to a random time, events that don't result in a shot or penalty are purely random and don't use any attributes or tactical input). Just be careful how much you read into noisy data.

i resent the "beating up small children" jibe. when we seek out weaker teams to pad statistics, we are "reminsing thwm of who is boss"...

This new PPM game of "Snark-infested Waters" is by far the most intriguing and controversial, even if the spelling is atrocious !

It was in being one of those small children that I adopted the motto "Because I said so is not a reason.....it's a declaration of war!".

To me, this analysis goes a little bit too far. While it is nice to have in-depth knowledge of the game, the guide still provides basic foundations that should have a large impact on the game.

And the guide states that breaking up of play is not a good strategy to use if you are the better team of the two.

"It is a tactic which is best used in games where you are the underdog."

It is a tactic I love using when I'm worse than my opponent as it "levels the field" and give me a chance to pull off an upset... but in a game where I should win, I will never want to have this strategy that kind of randomizes a little bit the outcome of the game.

Therefore, without going in the heavy arguments you have been having, I kinda want to express that it is not necessarily the fault of the simulation engine only. You probably should win this game more often than not even with this choice of strategy, but I believe you would have helped your chances by not playing this strategy against a weaker opponent.

For those of you who may have been following the recent (or any other) conversations between canuck357 and myself, please understand this.
We are both passionate about the game.
Canucks357 has a great understanding of the inner workings of the game, and I have learned much from him. He may be at the top of my list when profiling managers and their tendencies.
All the verbal jousting, poking, prodding, needling, and button-pushing has been going on since we met, and is soley intended to "get a rise" out of each other. We have much in common other than the fact that he is much younger and drinks tea. We have met socially at several PPM meetings and I consider him to be my best PPM friend.

I don't drink tea. You must be talking about my girlfriend. Anything I should know...?
