So - the team that lost had the most shots, and the team that won had the least shots. Per the article the team that won just happened upon that super small percentage and struck gold.

All the fancy talk on that blog states that if you have more offense and a better goalie you should win a high percentage of the time, and that counter-tactics only slightly sweeten the chances of a win.

What's the point? This is all outlined in the guide and all easily discerned through running a team for a season. A bad beat is a bad beat, I agree but to hyper analyze data to come up with what we already knew and professing it to be the digital bible of an online sim seems a bit far fetched to make an excuse for a bad beat.

In the end this game comes down to rolls.
You either are lucky with rolls or you aren't.

You have to remember tactics are but one of many factors in a game including team strength, home ice, etc. Its not the end all be all. As I stated in some thread recently you can do everything right, have every advantage and still lose if the "roll of the dice" doesnt go your way.

I also think that the stars / numbers etc can be skewed by bad builds, or people focusing on building the stars and not the actual overall package. A team with a good overall build that has lower overall primaries can still beat a team that is more transparent build wise.

If that isn't true, why is it in guide? I also hope that the section below (from guide) would be fixed as those factors don't influence the attendance in that order, do they? That's an other misleading part in guide. In my opinion the guide should always be valid.

I ask you this: Do you really think any team is equally suited to play any tactic?

Say you have a team that is 35 D and 25 O, do you really think you're going to perform as well using offensive tactic as defensive tactic?

The one thing that guy's site has time and time again proven to me is there is no ultimate tactic, strategy, or build. There isn't much he, or anyone, can show that will win 100% or react 100% predictably (except some loser strats, but even they may get beaten).

If you have the stronger team - just pick the strat that the weaker guy won't pick the counter tactic to. That appears to be the depth of strategic planning so far to me. Vice versa if you're the weaker team.

there's only one (and big) change in this, if you or your opponent will set the right counter-tactic (CT), in that case team with "loosing" CT can have any ratings, number of shots will be approx half as normal it should have if there was no CT

yes, that site isn't ultimate guide, but prove some interesting things, like circle of CTs which is almost 100%, but no one said that if you set right CT you will win, but you will have way more shots that your opponent, and shots are keys to goals

that guy also proved that with any tactic you will have almost the same number of shots, so your players will not play most defensively, if you set to play defensively, or they will still have the same number of shots, if you set to play counter attacks
how this is possible if tactics have different effect on your team?

roughly said, tactics are good only for CT, they don't have any other meaning

you can do little experiment, try to play at least one month with same opponent, he will play always with the same tactic, and you will rotate them, also play always with the same roster and on the same importance, I would like to see your findings and numbers of your shots
