Hello everyone. I'm new to this game myself, but I enjoy it a lot. It appears there are a couple of other teams from my home state of Indiana as well. The league appears to be filling up, when I joined last week at least half of the teams were no-names. We have some at least moderately experienced players in our league, who are dominating the standings currently. Any chance you have any small tips for us that are new to the game? Good luck everybody, and Merry Christmas.
Welcome to PPM! I'm glad to hear you find the game fun like many others of us. It's a fun process learning what your players can do and how to use them. As you've noticed there are other established teams that may well own you up... for now. Be patient and by next season you'll be in those ranks and perhaps looking at promotion up a division! For now just worry about building up a squad that can be a contender later.
You asked for some tips. Here's a few that I think will help.
-keep building on that HR department as next season will see a HUGE jump in sponsor money for you
-keep building on the training facility as that will become a huge factor in making strong players. The regeneration facility goes hand in hand with this as well (but to a bit lesser degree imho)
-keep an eye on building up the sports academy but for now it wont help all that much. The other buildings may not be of so much use to you for a while
-Soon you'll be able to bid on players in the market. You wont be able to afford superstars for the future but who knows. My advice would be to look for some experienced players with good stats but are down in the 4 CL range. You can buy them on the cheap and they should be at a much higher level than you can develop for quite a while. No matter what tho, dont be in a rush to buy the first players you see. Take your time and get a feel for where the market is at. Also, I wouldn't advice spending a whole bunch on some player that is trained up in just one stat. Look for a good balance of stats.
-most people seem to agree a good balance of stats is something like primary 100% and secondaries in the 50-70% range.
-** the commonly accepted order of tactcs is Normal > Defensive > Offensive > Forechecking > Counterattacks > Breaking up > Normal
-* be careful not to use up your players seasonal energy too fast. In fact, it's good to try and save it for the last half of the season and in particular the playoffs. Do this by only playing friendly games on low and try to have as many league games on low as possible. This may make it hard to win league games so evaluate the tradeoff for yourself.
-Always schedule up friendlies. I like to look for ones against the highest OTR teams I can find but which I think I have a good chance to win. You gain more OTR with the higher of OTR teams you beat. The thing is you get none if you lose, unless it's very close. I like to find potential games in the information section with the teams near me in OTR. If they look to strong I'll also look for them in the middle divisions of other countries.
I hope this helps! Most of that info is stuff from discussions in

If you have any other questions feel free to drop me a message or ask in those threads. You'll find plenty of helpful people and opinions.
Have fun!

Playoff Magic Numbers
I've seen this in another league thread or two, and I figured we could use or own here. Also hello to all the new players in the league. If you have any questions I recommend reading the questions and answers forums (American and International) or asking your question if you can't find the answer.
Magic Numbers:
(For Promotion Playoffs)
Michalovce Wild Hogs - 0
-Already have clinched 1st place, but they can still have a big impact on the teams below them.
Aziet Jr Farm - 0
Cedar Park Stars - 0
-These 2 teams are expected to battle it out for 2nd and 3rd place. Both have games against the Wild Hogs as well as playing each other, possibly leaving the door open for someone to sneak into 3rd.
Boilermakers - 0
-All 6 remaining games against new-coach teams, none of which are in the top 10 of the standings. Something tells me their coach wants to make a push for 3rd.
PA Ducks - 0
-Magic Number would be 1, but they only need the xSabres or the Roosters to lose a point and they play in game 35.
PAnguins - 1
-Magic Number would be 4, but again, the xSabres and Roosters have a game against each other.
The Ducks and PAnguins will battle it out for 5th and 6th places, including a game 36 matchup.
Slash Kings - 12
-Another team that benefits from the xSabres vs Roosters game coming up, however they play both the xSabres and Roosters. They also have the Wild Hogs and Cedar Park on their schedules. This team has a small points advantage over 9th place, but will have to play well to maintain it.
xSabres - 18
Roosters - 18
-Both teams control their destiny, the xSabres currently have the tiebreaker, as well as the easier schedule. Advantage: xSabres
Dallas Razorbacks
Ice Hounds
Newark Horses
Centaurs
-All within 6 points of 8th place. They'll have to play well and get help to make it in. The xSabres vs Roosters game will not help these teams, as they need to pass both of them to advance.
Mathematically eliminated:
Panthera Leo
-Inheriting a last place team is never fun, however the season is nearly over and you'll have a chance to make an impact next season.

wow almost 4 mos. without a post. Talk to each other, the game is a lot more fun that way.

New owner of the last place, point-less, Covington Rowdies here. Look forward to a long road ahead.
Hah welcome to the game. If you have any questions just post on the forums.
Just was moved up from III.14 out of the blue today and thought I'd say hi and see if anyone uses this.
You're right, it's not used. Welcome to the game though, hope you're enjoying it so far.
If you have questions post them someone will be willing to help and welcome to the game.
