Terminada a primeira fase do Mundial de Sub-20, é tempo de fazer um balanço do que sucedeu na fase de grupos, assim como nos oitavos-de-final que hoje se disputaram. Um primeiro facto a registar na fase de grupos é que nenhuma equipa saiu 100% vitoriosa, o que pode antever um mundial equilibrado, sem um vencedor antecipado…

GRUPO  1

No Grupo 1, a Alemanha dominou, não sem algumas dificuldades, tendo obtido duas vitórias e um empate, este contra a Eslovénia. De resto, duas vitórias magras e difíceis dos alemães contra a Austrália (2-0) e contra a Bósnia (1-0). A acompanhar os germânicos na passagem aos oitavos-de-final, segue também a Bósnia Herzegovina, com duas vitórias, uma delas contra a Eslovénia. Esta e os australianos, sem qualquer ponto, ficaram fora dos oitavos-de-final.

GRUPO 2

Este grupo foi dominado pela China, líder do ranking mundial, que obteve também duas vitórias e um empate. Em 2º lugar, classificou-se a Bulgária. Distante, no 3º lugar, ficou uma dececionante Ucrânia e em último a Bielorrússia com apenas 1 ponto conquistado.

GRUPO 3

No grupo inteiramente disputado no recinto do Outeirense houve um pouco mais de equilíbrio, com os vencedores, a Holanda, a fazer 6 pontos (uma derrota contra Suécia) e a França a conquistar 4 pontos, tantos quantos a Suécia, que acabaria em 3º, vencida pelo goal average superior dos gauleses. Em último, uma também dececionante Itália, apenas triunfadora do jogo contra os suecos.

GRUPO 4

Um grupo dominado pela Finlândia (7 pontos), com a Espanha a classificar-se em 2º. O jogo entre estas duas seleções, logo a abrir, pareceu determinante no desfecho do grupo. Em 3º ficou uma dececionante Roménia, fruto de uma vitória contra a seleção mais fraca do grupo, a Croácia.

GRUPO 5

Este foi também um grupo equilibrado, com os dois primeiros a terminarem empatados, e foi só por os canadianos terem um ranking inferior ao dos eslovacos que aqueles alcançaram o 1º lugar do grupo. Fora dos oitavos, ficaram a Argentina, com um mundial algo apagado mas que, ainda assim, derrotou o vencedor do grupo, e a Macedónia.

GRUPO 6

O Grupo 6 foi também um grupo equilibrado, mas apenas na disputa do 2º lugar. De facto, se a Rússia dominou o grupo (duas vitórias e um empate), na disputa pela outra vaga na fase seguinte envolveu Áustria e Bélgica, com ambas as equipas a terminarem empatadas com 4 pontos e foi só pelo goal average e pela diferença de 1 golo que os austríacos se qualificaram. Em 4º lugar ficou o Perú com apenas 1 ponto, fruto de um empate surpreendente contra os belgas e que custou a estes últimos a qualificação.

GRUPO 7

Neste grupo jogava a equipa da casa e havia uma enorme espetativa de, pelo menos, passar aos oitavos-de-final. No entanto, tal não veio a acontecer, para desapontamento dos apoiantes lusos. Nas contas do grupo, A todo-poderosa República Checa dominou, conquistando 7 pontos, logo seguida pela Dinamarca, com 6. Portugal, apoiado pelo seu público, não foi além de dois frustrantes empates, um na última jornada contra os checos. A fechar o grupo ficaram os Estados Unidos.

GRUPO 8

Aqui o domínio pertenceu à poderosa Polónia que conquistou duas vitórias e um empate. Em 2º, classificou-se a Hungria, com 4 pontos. Fora dos oitavos ficaram a Sérvia, com 3 pontos, e um também dececionante Brasil com apenas um empate conseguido.

OITAVOS-DE-FINAL

ALEMANHA 2 - BULGÁRIA 0

No Estádio do Sport Seixal Benfica, defrontaram-se o 3º classificado do ranking contra o 11º. Apesar da posse de bola ter estado muito repartido, o facto é que os germânicos tiveram mais oportunidades e pareceram sempre mais incisivos quando atacavam. No final da 1ª parte registava-se um nulo mas o treinador alemão, Crashfahrer, cedo percebeu que havia que fazer mudanças na estrutura da equipa, tendo reposicionado os seus jogadores quando estavam passados 30 minutos de jogo.

Na 2ª parte vieram os golos: o 1ª, logo aos 53 minutos, através do lateral-direito, Ludwig Gast; o 2º, já ao cair do pano, através do centrocampista Oskar Angel.

No final, vitória justa da Alemanha, que segue assim para as meias-finais.

HOLANDA 0 - ESPANHA 2

Este foi um jogo de apenas um sentido, com os espanhóis a dominarem claramente e a marcarem cedo: com apenas 8 minutos de jogo, o resultado já estava feito, depois dos tentos de Clemente Palomar, aos 5, e de Nicolás Fernández, aos 8. O resto do desafio foi apenas um passeio, com os nuestros hermanos a controlar o jogo, baixando mesmo a intensidade na segunda parte. A Holanda poucas vezes se acercou da baliza contrária e a situação piorou depois na 2ª parte com a expulsão do avançado Arnoud van den Brand. Um jogo com pouca história.

CANADÁ 1 - ÁUSTRIA 0

Aqui aconteceu a surpresa dos oitavos-de-final. Apesar de ser duas equipas muito próximas em termos de ranking, o Canadá é 12º, a Áustria, 14º, os austríacos dominaram o jogo, com mais oportunidades de golo, mas o guarda-redes contrário, Pat Salmon, fez uma exibição fantástica, tendo sido eleito o melhor jogador em campo. Ele e os perdulários avançados austríacos foram adiando a decisão do encontro, o qual terminaria empatado ao fim dos 90 minutos. O jogo foi então para polngamento. E foi aos 105 minutos que o balde de água fria caiu sobre as hostes austríacas: após uma falta na área que o árbitro assinalou bem, Thierry Lowrey converteu o castigo máximo e sentenciou a partida, para desgosto dos austríacos, que pareceram sempre estar melhor que o adversário. Uma autêntica surpresa.

REPÚBLICA CHECA 0 - HUNGRIA 1

Aqui também se poderia pensar que foi uma surpresa, pois os checos são uma nação poderosa no PPM e estão 5 lugares à frente dos húngaros no ranking. No entanto, a Hungria, a fazer um belíssimo mundial, apesar de repartirem a posse de bola, tiveram mais oportunidades e foi também graças ao guarda-redes checo, eleito, tal como o canadiano no outro encontro, melhor jogador em campo, que o nulo se manteve, mesmo após se recorrer ao prolongamento. Foi então necessário recorrer aos pontapés da marca da grande penalidade e foi aí que os húngaros mereceram a sorte que não tiveram ao longos dos 120 minutos de jogo.

CHINA 0  - BÓSNIA HERZEGOVINA 1

Aqui pode-se falar claramente de uma surpresa: a China, líder mundial do ranking , batida pelo 20º. O jogo até foi bastante equilibrado, ainda que com um ligeiro ascende dos bósnios, mas a expulsão do centrocampista Xue Lingyun logo aos 15 minutos deitou por terra as aspirações chinesas. Na 2ª parte, surgiu o único golo, aos 57’, por Armel Kahrović. Depois disso, o treinador bósnio reajustou as suas pedras e o resultado não se alterou.

FINLÂNDIA 1 - FRANÇA 0

Aqui a surpresa foi a diferença mínima com que a Finlândia bateu os franceses. Com uma diferença abismal no ranking, 5º contra 22º, a Finlândia dominou claramente o jogo e a vitória tangencial por 1-0 peca por escassa face ao domínio avassalador dos finlandeses. Um jogo sem história.

RÚSSIA 0  - ESLOVÁQUIA 1

Um jogo claramente dominado pelos eslovacos que, tal como no Finlândia-França, a vitória dos eslovacos peca por escassa, face também ao seu domínio. Aqui, foi preciso esperar pelo minuto 70 para se ver o primeiro e único golo da partida, da autoria de Radoslav Glovaťák. Face às oportunidades, a vitória da Eslováquia é inteiramente merecida.

POLÓNIA 3 - DINAMARCA 1

O resultado mais volumoso dos oitavos, com os polacos a levar claramente de vencida a garbosa seleção dinamarquesa, que só cedeu após o prolongamento. A Polónia, 2ª do ranking mundial, dominou completamente os dinamarqueses, tendo inclusive falhado uma grande penalidade, e teve mais oportunidades de marcar. No entanto, Dinamarca, conseguiu sempre equilibrar a partida. No final do tempo regulamentar, registou-se um empate a uma bola, com os dinamarqueses a ficarem reduzidos a 9 elementos à passagem do minuto 78. E foi esse handicap que contribuiu, talvez, para a derrocada dinamarquês no prolongamento, onde os polacos fizeram os dois golos com que sentenciaram a partida.
