Can someone explain scouting to me? I read up on it in the guide but I am still pretty hazy.
If you look at your player attributes, there are two numbers. The first, which is in larger type is his current skill level. It increases as a player trains that skill.
The second is the quality. It determines how fast a player can train at the skill. When you first acquire a player, the numbers are estimates - and actually pretty bad estimates. They will also change every week.
If you scout a player, then the actual values are revealed. You can scout your staff members and players on other teams as well.
On a player's page there is "Add to Scouting". Click on that, and the player is added to the scouting queue. Under Arena Scouting you can see the scouting queue. As soon as one player is scouted, it automatically switches to the next player. You can also rearrange the queue.
If you train a player at the different attributes you can get a pretty good handle on a player's quality values. The training is based on the actual quality values and not the estimates.

So if it is true that you don't know the actual quality of players or staff on the market, how close will the reported value be to the actual? So I need to scout almost everyone who I am interested in buying first?
They're roughly proportional. You might find someone who appears to be a really exceptional shooting quality, and they end up being pretty good. They won't end up being "can't hit barn door". If someone shows a 30 quality, you probably don't want them if that is an important skill for his position.
I had a huge mistake setting up tactics during the playoffs that could of cost me getting higher in the placement but oh well. Always next season ^.^
Sorry I haven't posted earlier, I just realized this forum was here. I have been reading all the QA forums. Hope no one will mind if I ask a few newbie questions.
ask away, but the Q&A forums are usually the best place because more people read there.
Welcome to the game Tribewwrite!! I don't venture to the QnA thread much these days but if you have any questions feel free to drop a mail or perhaps use the "chit chat" thread.
