Press Release:
Today the 2-2-0-1 Tomahawks were looking for an early spot in the playoff's as they sat in 9th behind Iowa Energy. They had a rather easy draw against the Limo Cheesers but nevertheless they still had to perform in front of the 1,000 at the DCU Center.
Unfortunately for the Limo Cheesers could not do anything to stop the steamrolling Tomahawks offensive press. The 1st period 78% of the game was in the Tomahawks zone where they were ripping shots left and right. Only a minute and a half into the game and [hockey_player=id]Jeff Clemens put the Tomahawks on the board 1-0. He was not the only one to score however. Goals from [hockey_player=id]Miłosz Abramiuk on the power-play, [hockey_player=id]Tomáš Zaplatílek, the recently signed player [hockey_player=id]Vojtěch Vrbovský on the power-play, [hockey_player=id]Jeroným Filipec, and [hockey_player=id]Elliott Tilley who was injured to start the season and has been working on adjusting back into play. So the Limo Cheesers seemed as if this game was over heading into the 2nd period with a 6-0 deficit they had to climb out of. Their goalie [hockey_player=id]Whitney Vanpatten faced 14 shots in the 1st
The second period and third periods brought much of the same results. The Limo Cheesers did score twice during the game however. [hockey_player=id]Leroy Clemens put one in the back of the net in the 2nd and [hockey_player=id]Paul Marino scored in the third after getting a beautiful pass from [hockey_player=id]Stu McGill. That was it from the Limo Cheesers though as the Tomahawks went on to score 6 more goals making the final score 12-2.
This game was a huge help for the Tomahawks as they jumped from 9th to 6th place in the standings over The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, The Danglers and Iowa Energy. However movement up further seems unlikely as everyone above them has a very commanding presence in III.7 this year.
