Temat: U17 Canadian Basketball National Team

Wow a win against Croatia today! Means that we are (probably)second (behind Croatia even if we beat them twice) because of the point differential. But this is a great qualifiers as we finished 6-2 (not bad for a country that ranks 34 with the worst record of the entire group!).

I checked and last time we made it throught the finals was season 8 (3rd place). Let get more chemistry and extra training for our young players!

Congrats!! Hope this means we are turning the corner in national basketball!

Last year U17 had a great year as we are able to qualify. It means that this year we got a slightly better pool. We ranked 27th. In our pool we have Norway (40th), Spain (19th), Serbia (11th) and Russia (7th). Both Russia and Serbia had a bad tournament last year so they slide a bit in the ranking but both are finalist candidates. This left us with Spain and Norway to get to the 3rd place. Spain is not a bad team. We need to win both games against Norway then at least split with Spain and hope to get one against Serbia or Russia we will able to qualify again. But it is not going to be an easy ride and should we qualify it will probably be a close call. Should you think we have any great 17y, 16y or 15y players, send me an email. I am scouting all players out of the draft but may have missed the one coming from your academy and being sold.

We may be turning the corner a bit in basketball if we can just keep the big arenas around long enough to generate more quality players.

Thanks. You are right. But loosing Midget last year is going to deplate our talent pool. We need more team with a top SA and with excellent training capacity

By winning against Russia today the team is qualified with one game left. And guess what Russia(ranked 7th) needs a miracle (from us against Serbia) next game to qualified. If we won against Serbia (or loose a tight game) we are going to finish second which is the goal for next game (finger crossed). Please continue to support our Basketball development program!

3 games in the finals, two left. So far it is as expected. But today we were 3 points short of making a big surprise. We lost against croatia by 3. On the first game we were outplayed by the favorite Czech Republic. Then we beat the USA (their only lost so far...but they played the 3 lowest ranked team.. That include us). So for the next two games we need two wins to be qualified. The good news is that we are playing against the switzerland (no win so far) and the Slovenia who has the same numbers than us so far. Cross your fingers Canada!

Unfortunatly we lost todays against Slovenia. I am waiting to see rhe score between Croatia and USA. One of the loosing team will go in playoffs.

Ok we are not qualified, Croatia lost today so they have the same number of points but a better ratio GF - GA but amazingly Croatia is 5th overall and we manage to have the same numbers than them. This is not bad for the lowest ranked team in this tournament!
