I'm pretty sure they'll take Yakapov at #1. I'm not so sure they'll still have that pick come draft day.
As for defencemen, the Oilers aren't as bad off as everybody thinks. They have at least four in the system (minors/juniors) that will have solid NHL careers.

True, but none are the quality of the forwards they have
Hall,N-H and Eberle are so much fun to play with in NHL 11 after you've simulated the first 5 seasons or so. I traded Sedin-Sedin for the three of them when the Sedin's contracts were up. They wanted 18M for the two of them and the three kids I locked up for 4+ years each at 14M total. Not to mention they're much more fun to play as.
I don't get to watch him in the O, but the world Juniors were in Calgary this year, and he was easily the 2nd best player, only Kuznetsov(sp) was better, and he was a year older. But Yakupov was way better then griergrenko (sp) or other top prospects at the tourny.
Where are the Canadian prospects, eh? Lol CHLs best are all Russian
A la Don Cherry: We are training the competition!
Anyone have any thoughts on the lockout? Which side are you on?
I can't really decide myself, on one hand, this recently expired cba was basically written by the owners. On the other hand, the average NFL salary is 500k or so less than the average NHL salary with NFL revenue at 9.5 billion, and NHL revenue at 3 billion.

Can't compare NHL to NFL. If for no other reason than the TV contracts and stadium capacity.
this is my point. with the TV contracts, and the extra stadium capacity bringing in way more revenue, the nfl players on average still get paid less.
Is that going by actual salary, or cap hit? And if actual salary, you have to take into account all the new front loaded contracts going around, as they will bump up the average by a quite a bit.
