Temat: No Player Draft?

What gives... just started playing this game a few day ago, i love it.. but one problem wheres the best part of being a manager? Drafting prospects? lol

It happens every week in the form of staff or players. Look at the Arena/Stadium staff/sports academy tabs.

Its not a draft, but new players come to your club via your sporting director's efforts.

In the first seasons I advocated they start some sort of draft for each division. It met with a confirmation that wont be happening :/ It's too bad too.

Would you really like it better if you drafted a bunch of players at the beginning of the season rather than have some players show up every couple weeks as the season goes on?

I know it would be more realistic, but would it really be more enjoyable in the context of the game? I rather like the excitement of a chance for new players every couple of weeks.

Well it really depends on what side of the "luck pull" coin you're on. If you have a bunch of great youth pulls a draft sounds like a bad idea. If you never pulled anyone great then a draft sounds wonderful.

Also consider this game isn't built on the NHL model, I don't think the Euro hockey teams (that this is built on) do drafts. So that is another reason why the game works as is.

It would also lessen the importance of the sports academy, a huge part of the game.

Drafts also make very little sense due to the league structures. The bottom teams, who would acquire the best prospects in a draft system, are often the least active; meaning that the best prospects would be wasted on nonames, inactives, or teams that are poorly managed and likely to go inactive or be relegated. Add in the difficulty of having a draft (it would be impossible to have everyone online at the same time and a non-live draft would take far to long) and the current system is far superior.

Then, as others have mentioned, I look forward to pulling new players every 2 weeks...even if they're terrible.

i have to agree with taloncarde. there are no drafts in europe. each team has it's own academy.

The KHL does have a draft, but this is basically true.

I would rather have a player draft than sports academy for the realistic effect and evening of the player field, but there would be a problem with great players going to no names and inactives.

Possible solution I just thought of: automatically sign drafted players to low salary 1 week contracts. That way the inactives and nonames will not get to keep the stars. Whatcha think?

Actually almost all leagues do not have a draft. I think the system is great how it is.
