Thanks. The last four seasons appear to have been good for us, as we have moved our world ranking up to number four.!! Thanks to all managers for your training efforts.!!
Damn.!! I gotta stop watching these international games.!! Usually means we lose through bad luck.!! So I tuned in today, thinking the game would be over. Score was 3-3 near the end of the first. Russia scores, 3-4. I go away, we tie it up 4-4. I keep watching, we score...oh no, a fantastic unbelievable save by a Russian player. That, followed by a penalty to Canada.!! That's it!! No watching 'til the game is over. Waiting, waiting.. final score.. 6-5 Canada.!! Lesson learned.!! Again.!!

Thanks.! World Cup is a veritable minefield.!! Every game, I research trends and preferences by the upcoming opponent in an effort to gain some sort of advantage. I try to establish the highest probability for a win, based on their past performance, home and away, over the last two WC Championships. I felt confident going into the game against Spain. After all, they are ranked 21st.!! Then, they deviated from a consistent pattern, and played tactics they have almost never played, which coincidently matched up perfectly against ours, and we lost at home 2-4.!! We were a little luckier against the Czech Republic, having a slight advantage in tactics in regulation, but giving up a slight advantage in the O/T. We lost in O/T 1-2. Now in order to advance to the final eight, we need to win outright against the world's #1 team, Slovakia, AND have Latvia beat the Czechs outright, AND have Switzerland lose outright to Spain.!! Seems like a tall order, but stranger things apparently are "the norm" in World Cup play.!!
Congratulations mat601 on your recent win in the U18 elections. If I may be of any assistance, please feel free to reach out. Wishing you the very best of luck.!
I would be very interested to know why this player was added to the U18 team.!!
He is already 5/6 at age 16.!
His attributes are nowhere near the generally accepted values for the position.!
How is it possible for him to be of any value to the U18 team this season or next.

Yeah, I had 2 better Defencemen that were added to the U18 team at the start of the season and then removed.
Dennis Townsend and Bryant Duchesne. Both are 16, 6/6 and have high EQ%.

Yes, I know. I had already done the adds and cuts that I deemed necessary for the coming season, and put in lines that gave the 16 and 17 year olds max chemistry building, playing on very high. The idea has been to play the youngsters on VH to build chemistry in the friendly games, while saving the 18 year olds at maximum energy, because they already had chemistry of 70-90 from last season.! There is another strategy I don't understand. I believe we now have 10 18 year old centres on the U18 team.? I would like to understand the reason for this, as you should only be taking 5 to the World Championships, unless you are planning to play them at a position other than centre, not generally a good idea.?

This just never ends, yeah? Let's do some fact checking on the above:
Strategy for energy/chemistry usage for a national team depends on the both the manager and the age level they are managing. Obviously at the U18 level, you can select from four age groups so your options are bigger. U20 is severely limited. In the big country teams they can take all 18 year-old's to the World's while a smaller country probably must take 17 year-olds so it's different. Also, do you want maximum chemistry to start the tournament or do you prefer to maintain 100% energy? One of the Dutch guys rightfully tells me that the top guys deserve the experience/training bonuses of playing friendlies (true) but that sucks energy from the World's. The point here is there is no one strategy here. That's why we have a manager.
CL5 at 16 year's old means nothing, absolutely nothing. Everyone knows that. The training is exactly the same. This is something for the Senior National team manager to worry about and I don't believe there is any form of appreciable drop for CL4, so the U20 guy can take the guy too. This is a dumb argument.
Finally, and most importantly, if the Black Metal boss is making mistakes with the U18 then that is totally unsurprising. It's his first turn at the game. That's because there was no chance of running the team before because the same guy(s) were always running it. If you have some useful advice, why don't you contact him privately. If you want to complain now that you are on the other side of the fence and don't like it, then form a campaign. Win the election next time. Start another dynasty as Canada's GM.

I rarely agree with Paul, but I would be inclined to agree that we need to let Black Metal try his style. I believe it's unfair to question single decisions and is unlikely to help him maintain interest.
Black metal has been playing the game for a while. I look forward to seeing what you can do with the national team. Good luck!
