I'm with Killer. I haven't seen anything more than 3-star all season. I dont have the highest Academy, but I'd expect SOMETHING to come out.

Highest I've seen this season was 3.5 in one position only, and like Killer was saying, he was severely flawed in at least one category. Hoping it gets better as I continue to build it up. I know it's possible, I pulled one guy who was an amazing winger who sold for $70 mil at age 15.

So what does affect quality? Sporting director youth training efficiency?

Good question, KillerPuck212. I'd also like to know because I'm sinking money into this SA thing and it's not really paying dividends.

Nothing, it's purely random. It's my number one gripe with the game, and why I haven't spent any money it.

If you look around, you'll find a few people who have great teams without ever having to buy a player from the market. On the flipside, you'll find people who have been here for years and have never had a single good pull. Pure random is just not a fun mechanic for games, and I really wish they'd weight it so you'd be guaranteed at least one good player per season, or something similar.

Nothing should be a "guarantee".. but there should be some kind of correlation to your level of Academy and the quality of your Sporting Director.

They increase the starting OR.

I like the random from the academy. It's a bit frustrating that my hockey team gets weaker players while the soccer academy pumps out useful players every other week, but the random is still an exciting part of the game. It's cool that a crappy new team has just as much chance to pull a stud as the Irresistible Force.

It's not cool when IF pulls a stud every week, while all other I.1 teams pull one in a season. If lucky.

I still like the idea

Has Leggs been pulling good players lately? I know he mentioned a while ago that he wasn't getting anything, but I haven't looked at his team in a while.

I've scouted all of his 15 year olds. 3/5 are better than all of the youth I have pulled this season.

I have the same sports academy and staff in hockey as in soccer. In soccer, I get at least one player every two weeks with about 350 OR and at least an average of 70 for important qualities. I pulled around ten good players last season. In hockey, I'm lucky to pull a player with 250 OR, 6/6 CL, and an average quality of 60.

Upgrading my sports academy past level 10 is probably one of the last things I will spend money on at this point.

On the other hand, a 400 OR player with qualities of 70 is probably better than a 200 OR player with qualities of 80 or so.

it has no affect on the average quality, but you do get more picks so if I get 6 guys a week I have a better chance for one of them to be good.
of course it usually just means more bodies in the dumpster behind the arena...
