What is the real advantage/disadvantage?
in game energy?
As far as I can tell it does not affect seasonal energy....

Rolling 4 lines saves in-game energy plus they train better than if you rolled 3 lines (those in the top 3 lines that is)
I dont see any disavantages so far playing 3-3-3. I always play 4-4-4 but i got the depth. I just don't like getting outshot in the 3rd period by a team playing 3-3-3. Should'nt they be tired?
I play 4-4-4 but my last two lines are pretty much equal. Heck, my last three lines are fairly equal.
Heck, all my lines provide balanced scoring for me.
I think the only reason my top two lines have more goals is because they get the PP time.

I always use 4-4-4. Both have advantage/disadvantage, but good question which one is better and why?
I think that there should be an energy penalty in 3-3-3 in game and out of the game.
I hate playing a 3-3-3 team and then getting outscored in the third.

I always use 4-4-4. The only times I've played 3-3-3 is when the game engine glitched. I have a very balanced team and like to spread out ice time between the players.
I've used both for significant parts of seasons. 4 lines has a decrease in "daily" energy of 15% on either low or normal importance. If you roll 3 lines you use 25% energy on the daily. This means lower training. What you gain with 3 lines is your BEST players see more ice time. From an effeciency stand point your guys get more opportunity to score. Basically I rolled 3 lines to improve my stats for the prize money. It works TOO!!! 2 point a game players ect. But I gave up some training to do it.
I preffer 4 lines frankly. Training is more important in the long run. That said if the 4th line is a sharp drop off in quality you might want to roll 3 lines in the 3rd period as an option. Remeber your not building chem or EXP on those potential 4th line players if they don't play. Basically 3 lines is playing for "today". 4 lines is longterm thinking.

since it is sortof the same thing....do you slip a new goalie into the 2nd or third to increase practice? does that work?
Goalies and the game is a real issue for me. It starts with chemistry. I'm on year 2 trying to get 2 guys up at the same time. It's almost impossible in a reasonable time frame. You can if you split time each game. Which I will not do. It isn't realistic in RL terms. Plus both guys get the "energy penalty" each day. The spilt games I believe both get the same energy loss as position players who played the whole game. But someone doing this regulerly can confirm this.
i run with one goalie, and 4 lines
i try and get my back up in a decent amount, but i have alot of rest days and not many friendlies
its all about training for me right now

But if i play my backup goalie for two periods, that should mean less of an energy penalty for my starting goalie, which means his practice should be higher, right?
