AQ is basicly the average of all the quality numbers on your players, the gray numbers.

Also you may want to step back from the market and be more selective with who you pick up because it looks like your buying up low end players. Out of curiosity what search criteria are you using for market players?

Ya, I was just getting guys based on overall rating, I did not really understand. I did well this season, but I know I was in a weak league.
I have been upgrading all of my facilities as I can, I thought if I had guys to help me get wins, I could move up faster.
The upgrade costs higher now, and I know I will get a better sponser deal soon, will playing lots of games (I signed up for a credits tourney) help?
I know I have much to learn, I just want to do it the right way so Im not spinning my wheels.

The quality numbers for players are only estimates until you scout a player then you get his true quality values. Also read the guide about players. It has things like for a Center that PAS and TEC are important to train. Most people train to ratios like 2:1:1 for a Center. This would be train 2 Offence to 1 PASS and 1 Tech.

Yeah that's what it looked like on your roster, and Ziggy brought up a good point on AQ and scouting, do you have your guys scouted yet?

Here's what i do at least on the market, I'll search for guys that have at least 75Q in any catagory that you plan on training and only purchase those guys if their class is 5/6 or 6/6. IMO there is no reason to even look at ovr.

OVR is important on teams with undeveloped facilities because if you buy a player with an OVR considerably below the core of your team you will most likely never train him high enough to use him and so its wasted money.

I did scout one guy, and I am still confused with what AQ means with his overall number. Take for instance the guy I scouted. His goalie first number is 49 and green is 69.
What does that mean? is that good, what can I expect etc. I get everything else, but understanding the AQ and the OV for each position still confuses me.

The green numbers mean his Qualities are scouted. The higher the Q, the better a player will train that attribute. High Q is very important.

AQ is just the average of all of the players Qualities. This is just a quick way to judge a player, but it doesn't really mean anything. A player with a high AQ could still have a horrible Q on one of the important attributes for his position. That one bad Q could slow his development dramatically.

Yep, i tend to ignore AQ as it's a meaningless stat imo. The important thing to do is look at the qualities of the key attributes. Afterall, if you have a forward for example, the quality of his goalie attribute is totally irrelevant to his role on your team.

So, I'm struggling with a decision here and wanted to see what popular opinion was and see if anybody has already tried it. If you have a forward is it worth it to train his defense up? I'm thinking of bringing it in line with the ratios I'm training my players. On the other hand is it worth it to train a dman's offense up? I've also been thinking of training a winger's passing up if they have high enough q's. Any ideas on this front? When a forward is playing does his D EVER get checked against opposing players? If it does then common sense would say that it was worth it to train it up.

I've been doing it for a bit. I noticed my best scoring player was a Dman with with 90 off to his 120 def. So I started training my forwards in D... especially my centers. We'll see how it goes. I've got mixed replies from the devs on how important def is for forwards etc. Hoping the new engine relies on it a bit more.

No. We've tested influence of one great defender as a center, in a line with bunch of players with very low defensive skill, and there was no change when he was gone.
We don't know what impact has passing though.

I was told passing has an influence all be it small. But still more important then defence for a forward.
