Hello. I've been at this for about 2 weeks and loving it, so I apologize if the answer I seek is already listed elsewhere.
I read in the guide, that there is a successful counter to each tactic chosen for a game, but I can't seem to find anything specific. What would be the counter for the tactic "breaking up of play"? Thanks in advance.

You can post questions in the Q&A post, but don't worry about it. Ive had success with Counter Attacks.
Thank you for your help, and i will be sure to post my questions there in the future. Cheers.
Don't tell anyone... but the tactic wheel is:
Normal => Defensive => Offensive => Active Forecheck => Counter-attack => Breaking up play => Normal
Normal => Defensive => Offensive => Active Forecheck => Counter-attack => Breaking up play => Normal
well...he could tell you...but then he would have to ban you.

when did we stop killing them for that information?
once he was banned no one would know about that part. and you weren't supposed to let him know about that part...now...both of you...well, i guess we can't do that either...hmmm...
well, it's easy to fix one, but it might be a bit dicey...
It may just be me but the "tactic wheel" seems counter intuitive.
A "normal" game type should be the safest style to play, a bit of everything/ no specialization of style.
A "defensive" should be great for teams with good overall team D that has trouble scoring to keep games close. (New Jersey Devils)
"offensive" should be vice-versa to "d" except they have trouble at d (LA Kings 98-05 and Washington Capitols)
"counter-attack" should be for teams that want a focus on d but still be aggressive with their offensive opportunities. (Note that this style should be an effective counter for offensive and should almost be the direct counter to an active forecheck, think the Minnesota Wild or Detroit Red Wings, yes Detroit)
'active forecheck" is for aggressive teams that want to force the opponents into mistakes in the opponents end. (The biggest purpose for this style is to attack a weak d corp meaning that this should be effective against offensive and defensive because of a lack of offensive threat. Think the Carolina Hurricanes and what they did/do against Defensive (Devils and Bruins) and offensive teams. (Sabers))
"breaking up of play" sounds like a mix of active forecheck and counter-attack which doesn't make sense. Maybe it is supposed to describe the neutral zone trap (D style) but if anyone can fill me in more on this style in real hockey I would like to know more about it.

agreed. but, then again, no one ever (so far as i know) said the wheel made sense...just that it's the way things work.

Here are the tactics, their ideal counter-tactics and my own explanation as to why.
